Scarborough Trigg Heritage Trail

The complete walk (all three loops) is approximately 7.3 km long.
At a leisurely pace this walk will take 2.5 hours to complete.
Discover unique wildflowers – enjoy spectacular coastal views
and sightings of birds and reptiles. At a leisurely pace this loop
takes approximately 1 hour.
We invite you to take a walk and reflect upon the history which
makes this area unique.

The walk includes:
The walk recognises the Nyungah people’s prior occupancy and
custodianship of this land. The local Nyungah people in this
coastal area are know as the Bibbleman (or Pibleman). They
occupied the region between Pinjarra, Fremantle, Perth and
Moore River.
Trigg Bushland Reserve Loop – Green (3.2 km)
From fishermen to settlers, surfers and swimmers - take a walk
back in time to Trigg Island. At a leisurely pace this loop takes
approximately 1 hour.
Trigg Coastal Loop – Blue (2.9 km)
Explore the unique history of the Scarborough beachfront, the
hub of the Sunset Coast. At a leisurely pace this loop takes
approximately 30 minutes.
Scarborough Coastal Loop – Red (1.2 km)

The Walk
Walk brochures can be obtained from www.stirling.wa.gov.au,
from local libraries or at the City’s Administration Centre.
The walk is sign posted with stories about the area’s history.
It is a part of the City of Stirling’s Bushlinks Walktrail linking
significant bushlands within the City.
Scarborough, the starting point of the walk is located 12
kilometres northwest of Perth. This seaside recreational area
has a magnificent beach with spacious grassed areas, shady
trees, coastal bushland and a quality mix of accommodation,
restaurants, beach cafés and shops.
How To Get There
The Scarborough-Trigg Heritage Walk celebrates the Centenary
of Federation by highlighting stages and events in the past 100
years of the Scarborough-Trigg area. An older natural history is
described in the Trigg Bushland Reserve loop.

development advice and its ongoing maintenance and promotion.
Friends of Trigg Bushland
Centenary of Federation
The Friends of Trigg Bushland group conducts guided nature walks
through the reserve, works with the City of Stirling to implement
the Trigg Bushland Management Plan and assists with bushland
regeneration. New members are welcome.
The Commonwealth of Australia celebrated 100 years in 2001.
It was on 1 January 1901 that six colonies came together in
a federation, embarking Australia on its journey to become a
single nation.
Scarborough Beach Rotary Club
Centenary of Federation is a time to remember the pioneers of
our constitution and democracy, to value the rich culture and
heritage of Australia’s indigenous peoples and to recognise the
contributions of people from all over the world who have settled
in this country.
The Scarborough Trigg Heritage Walk is supported by the Rotary
Club of Scarborough Beach as part of its commitment to the local
community.
The walk will give the Scarborough and Trigg community
a lasting legacy by which future community members can
remember our nation’s 100th anniversary celebrations.

vocational, international and local Scarborough community projects
including Australia Day celebrations and the sinking of a time
capsule detailing the early history of Scarborough.
