WHY DIAMOND RIDGE...
ABOUT THE AREA
The subdivision of DIAMOND RIDGE is located in
Belleview, Florida. The name Belleview, which means
beautiful view came from one of the original settlers
whose daughter was named “Belle”. The “City with
Small Town Charm” is the City’s motto and reflects
the feeling of the City.
The City of Belleview, located in the southern end of
Marion County, was incorporated as a City in 1885.
Although Belleview is less than two square miles in
size, it is located in the hub of growth, 15 minutes
from Ocala to the north and The Villages to the
South. Belleview has six main roadways and highways
that run through it. U.S. Highways 441/301/27 run north and south through the center of town
and to The Villages; Highway 484 runs west to Interstate I-75; County Road 25 runs east toward
Oklawaha; Baseline Road (County Road 35) runs north and south on the east side of town.
Shopping
There are many small businesses and restaurants located in Belleview to accommodate
everyday shopping needs. Nearby Ocala is the home of the Paddock Mall which includes major
anchor stores like Belk, JC Penney’s, Sears and Macy’s and the new outdoor, Market Street
at Heathbrook, which offers an assortment of stores such as Dillards, Dick’s Sporting Goods,
Barnes and Noble, Old Navy, restaurants and even a day spa. For fun specialty shopping check
out the Market of Marion and Mount Dora Antiques. For mega shopping, it’s an easy drive to
Orlando or to the coastal regions.
Library
The Belleview Library was established in 1886 and is
the second oldest continuous library in the State of
Florida.
Lake Lillian Park
Playground facilities, picnic areas, 3/4 mile paved
trail and a mile dirt-walking trail make the park a
meeting place which hosts a variety of special events
weddings, reunions and birthday parties.
Special Events
The annual Founders Day to honor the original
Founders of the City, is held in and around Lake Lillian Park on the first Saturday in May. Browse
the wide variety of arts and craft booths and food vendors, watch a beauty pageant and enjoy
some live entertainment.
Light up Lake Lillian occurs soon after Thanksgiving, on a Friday evening, when citizens from all
over South Marion County come to take part in the first lighting of Lake Lillian for the holiday
season. There are vendors offering a wide variety of food, merchandise and Christmas arts and
crafts and of course Mr. and Mrs. Claus. In conjunction with Walgreen’s, children’s pictures can
be taken with Santa Claus at no charge.
Lake Lillian, historically known as Nine Mile Pond, has an arts and craft show annually that
incorporates the original founders, the soldiers from Fort King, along with Chief Osceola’s
Seminole Tribe. Lifestyles of the past are represented by vendors selling jewelry, clothing and
food. This is a two day event that is held during the month of October.
Medical
Marion County is renowned for its high quality hospitals, including Monroe Regional Medical
Center, Ocala Regional Medical Center, West Marion Community Hospital and Marion-Citrus
Mental Health Center and Hospice, along with hospitals in The Villages.
Recreation
Minutes from Diamond Ridge is the 70,000 acre Cross
Florida Greenway, which offers walking, jogging,
bicycle and horseback trails. The Ocala National
Forest, with almost one half million acres, offers
unlimited hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking
activities. Attractions such as Silver Springs and Wild
Waters Family Water Park, Disney World, Universal
Studios and Kennedy Space Center are a short drive
away. Golfers can choose from a variety of lush
championship courses. Daytona Beach, St. Augustine,
Crystal River and Cedar Key are great for sightseeing
day trips.
