Volunteer for a good cause
Making an IMPACT that matters
Every day, our people strive to make an impact in the community that they live and work in. In our recently
released 2015 Global Report, you will find some of these inspiring stories of how our people have made an
impact in the past year. From delivering pro-bono support to non-profit organisations, to helping young people
develop their potential and strengthening communities in the wake of a disaster, they are actively contributing
to society.
In the October issue of the mailer, we bring you a variety of volunteer opportunities where you can do your
part to amplify this positive impact by pledging your time and skills for the good of our communities. For
example, you can lend your accounting/finance skills in volunteer roles involving book keeping, preparation of
financial statements, cash flow management, etc. More information on this is available at the Pro Bono
Accountancy Singapore website.

Feature: Pro Bono Accountancy Singapore
This joint initiative serves as a comprehensive platform
for charities to reach out to accountants in Singapore
who are looking to dedicate their time, effort and most
importantly, their skilled talent in the field of
accountancy, to the organisations who need them
most. Volunteers of all experience and industries are
welcome.

Assist athletes or be part of the refereeing committee
during regular trainings conducted by SDSC. Some of
the sports include sailing, boccia, table tennis, athletics
and goalball. Volunteers do not require prior
experience in the sports.

More information
Enjoy the movie selection alongside patients of Thye
Hua Kwan Hospital. Volunteers will have to assist them
to and fro the screening room and also help to serve
snacks and beverages to the elderly folks.

Birthday celebration for patients
Bright Vision Hospital holds a monthly birthday
celebration for the patients and it always puts a smile
on their faces. Volunteers may help in the pre-party set
up and befriend and interact with the patients during
the party.

Medical escort and befriender

Assist and accompany the elderly to the hospitals for
check-ups and collection of medication and also
interact with them during the trip. Be a source of
encouragement and love for the patients of Dorcas
Home Care Service.

Be a positive source of energy to the patients at Bright
Vision Hospital as you engage them in singing, dancing
and other interactive activities to help them improve
their cognitive and physical functions. Volunteers can
also sing along with the patients to their favourite
songs!
Team up with daycare residents from St. Hildas
Community Services Centre and whip up delicious
dishes. Volunteers will get the chance to work with the
elderly and also befriend them.
Work with beneficiaries of the Society for the Physically
Disabled from Sheltered Workshop to pack goodie
bags as part of their wellness programme. Volunteers
can also take this opportunity to guide the beneficiaries
as they gradually integrate into the community.
Help to lift the spirits and boost the mood of patients at
Thye Hua Kwan Hospital by engaging them in various
arts and crafts activities such as drawing, colouring,
calligraphy and beads making.
Help patients of Bright Vision Hospital improve social
interaction and cognitive functions through mahjong
and various board/card games. Volunteers may also
use this chance to chat with the elderly and find out
more about them.
Volunteers will assist and facilitate art and craft
activities while befriending the patients. Through these
activities and interactions, patients will improve their
cognitive and physical functions. No prior experience is
required.

Kampung Senang Charity Lunch & Fundraising
Dinner
Be part of the committee as they raise funds for the
beneficiaries of the Kampung Senang Charity &
Education Foundation. Volunteers can sign up for
various roles such as videographer, event set-up,
promoter of the event, etc.

to 12 noon
NorthLight School CCA Programme
Be a guiding star and take part in the CCA activities
together with the NorthLight School students. During
the sessions, volunteers will assist teachers in
conducting the classes and build rapport with the
