The homely atmosphere they create, no matter how
many people they are playing for, as well as the
outdoor-concerts on various places or their strolling
through the streets have made their fan community
grow respectably within a rather short time.
With bated breath, their fans waited for DAWA’s first
album “This Should Work” (released on 31 May
2013).
It only needs a guitar, a cello, a cajon and two
unique / exceptional voices to make clear that
something new, something great has come into
being in Vienna. Relaxed and at the same time
concentrated, with passion and a sensible, original
anger, with melancholy and some optimism, the four
musicians have recorded a wonderful album and
presented an impressive first single, “Relief”.
John Dawa’s soul-like voice and Barbara
Wiesinger’s touching vocals chime together in a
unique way. Unisono with Laura Pudelek’s impulsive
way of playing the cello and Norbert Kröll’s lively
rhythms, they can be summed up in one sentence:
There are many things, but nothing like DAWA.
