Hello! My name is Arun Ponshunmugam and I`m a

Hello! My name is Arun Ponshunmugam and I'm a '17 from Jacksonville, Florida. I am a
Geography modified with Biology major. I am the Co-Director of the Pre-Health Peer
Mentors for this year! I also mentor high school students and prep them for college
through Let's Get Ready; I am involved in Agape Christian Fellowship. I am also an
UGA, a tour guide and I have 'TA'ed' for Organic Chemistry. The summer after my
freshman year, I went to New Delhi, India on a Tucker Fellowship to teach English and
work as a clinical aid; Over my junior winter I went to rural South Africa to help with
Geography research. I like exploring old bookstores, long walks on the beach (LOL)
and a good run. Do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected]. I'd love to
talk to you over gelato, coffee etc. All the best on your pre-med journey!
Ciao! My name is Drayton Harvey and I am a '17 from Denver, Colorado. I am
pursuing a major in neuroscience and double minors in biology and sociology. In
addition to being a co-director of the Pre-Health Peer Mentor Corps., I volunteer in
both DHMC's Child Life and Cuddler programs, volunteer with the Hop's START
program, co-direct ORGANize Dartmouth, and teach Ballroom and Latin dancing with
my wife for the Dartmouth Swing Club. For the past three years I have worked on
sudden infant death syndrome research, leading to my current thesis work in the Li Lab
on SIDS. I spent a term abroad as a Dickey Center International Intern working in Dr.
Roberto Amici's lab at the Università di Bologna. I studied the physiological impact of
an induced torpor state in rats, in addition to changes to the immune system rendered
by sleep deprivation. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Italia, I immersed myself in the
culture and made deep connections with my co-workers. My favorite thing to do when I
have free time is dance, and I take every opportunity I can to perform. There is no
greater feeling than dancing for a crowd and translating music into motion. You can
reach me at [email protected] if you have any questions or if you
just want to chat.
Hey! My name is Patrick and I am a ‘17 from a small town in Michigan called Norton
Shores. I am a Neuroscience Major (Biology Minor) and I participate in various
activities on campus like researching in a pharmacology/toxicology lab and
volunteering with groups like the Dartmouth CAPS and SIBS. I spent my off-terms
performing research and volunteering, so feel free to ask me about my experience
with either of those two opportunities! In my spare time, I am quite fond of playing
my ukulele anywhere and everywhere and can offer beginner lessons to anyone that
wants them--though I can't guarantee they will be of high quality. Anyways, feel free
to contact me at [email protected] if you have any questions about
Pre-Health at Dartmouth or life in general!
Hi. My name is Francine Mejia and I am an '18 from Los Angeles, California. I am a
Biology major, but I also really enjoy taking Anthropology classes. I try to be an
active member of the Dartmouth community by being a part of many different clubs. I
am currently a member of Collis Governing board. I also volunteer with Dartmouth
Feeding Neighbors, an organization where students collect leftover food from the
cafeterias on campus and deliver it to the Haven. I am also a member of the Gender
Inclusive House, Alpha Theta, serving as Non-Academic Chair where I was in charge
of hosting weekly events. I was also elected President for my sophomore summer. I
am currently working in an Ecology lab with a graduate student. I have also been
able to serve as a FYSEP intern working on campus which caters to First Generation
students on campus. I was able to study abroad on the Italian LSA in Rome. It was an
amazing experience and I miss Rome almost every day! On my free time I love
taking walks to explore whether I am home, in Hanover, or Rome. I also love getting
lost in the pages of a good book. I also love to play video games; my favorites are
Assassins Creed, Little Big Planet, Mortal Combat, and League of Legends. I am also
up to trying anything new. Routines are great for academic and serious times, but on
my days off or in my free time, I just like to challenge my comfort zone and learn
about myself. In this way, I have learned I like to rock climb, hike mountains, and chop
my own fire wood! Please feel free to email me if you would like more information
about myself or about anything else at [email protected].
Hi! My name is Sumita, and I'm an '18 from Albion, Michigan. I am majoring in
Neuroscience and minoring in Global Health (in the Anthropology department). On
campus, I do research, am involved with organizations like GlobeMed (a global
health group), the Dartmouth Undergraduate Journal of Science, and work for the
Admissions Office and at DHMC. I also love speaking/learning Spanish, and went on
the LSA+ to Santander, Spain last summer. In my free time, I love watching films,
reading, and trying new restaurants/foods. You can contact me anytime at
[email protected]
My name is Jackson Storm, and I'm a '17 from Norman, Oklahoma. I decided to
modify my major, Geography, with Anthropology seeing as it provided a different,
complimentary perspective to the questions I had been studying in the my pre-med
and Geography classes. On campus I'm involved in the student-run emergency
medical services, Dartmouth EMS. I'm also involved in Christian Union and participate
in their Bible Course offerings. I've had the privilege of traveling and learning on
programs such as the Nicaragua CCESP, a service-learning trip to Nicaragua, and
the Spanish LSA+ to Santander Spain. Both of these afforded myriad cross-cultural
learning opportunities and definitely have been two key defining experiences of my
time at Dartmouth. In my spare time, I love running around Hanover and staying up to
date on current events. You can reach me at [email protected] if
you have any questions about anything or want to go for a run!
Hi, my name is Amelia and I’m an ‘18 cell biology major from Gretna, Nebraska. I
don’t have a minor, but I devote a good chunk of time to the American Indian Science
and Engineering Society outside of the classroom. AISES is a group that provides
support and community for native students in science, tech, engineering and math
disciplines, including pre-health. I’m also involved with the Space Medicine lab at
DHMC as a research assistant, and have been an intern at Sanford Research in Sioux
Falls, an area I hope to go back to someday. My favorite pastimes include cooking,
beading, watching movies, and taking strolls around the less popular places on
campus. If you have any questions about anything, feel free to email me at
[email protected]. Udon wongithi thatíte, it’s good that you’re all
here!
Hi! I'm Marcus Gresham, an '18 majoring in Sociology and minoring in Biology. I am
involved in the Pathways to Medicine Program, NAACP, and the Afro-American
Society. The coolest health opportunity that I've done thus far has been planning a
health fair for black men in Atlanta. For fun, I enjoy playing basketball and DJing.
Fun fact: I can move my ears.
Hi! My name is Sara Winfrey and I'm a '17 from Chicago. I'm an Econ major but
taking all my pre-med classes (yes it is possible). On campus I'm a ski and snowboard
instructor, volunteer at DHMC, and am an officer in Chi Delta. I also worked in a
physiology lab at DHMC this past year. My sophomore year I went on the Buenos
Aires LSA and fell in love with South America. I then decided to go back to work with
a non-profit in Peru for my off-term (teaching English, shadowing doctors, working in
a small hospital), which was an incredible experience. Some things I love to do at
Dartmouth: running in Hanover/Norwich especially in the fall, going to the farmer’s
markets, and eating ice cream any day of the week. Feel free to shoot me an email
at [email protected]
Hi! My name is Tammy, and I'm a '17 from Orange County, California. I'm a double
major in Biology and Studio Art, and will be wrapping up my final year at
Dartmouth! On campus, I'm part of Standpoints, Dartmouth's global health magazine,
and Art Cart, a volunteering program at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center that
focuses on art healing. In my free time, I like drawing, reading, and enjoying nature!
Feel free to reach out to me at: [email protected]. I swear I won't bite! :)
Hi! My name is Edel and I'm a '18 from Orange County, CA. I'm a Comparative
Literature specializing in Japanese Translation and Asian and Middle Eastern
Languages and Literature (it's a mouthful, I know) double major. On campus, I'm
involved in research at the Tomlinson Lab working on AHR pathways and mice studies.
I'm the Community Training Officer and a Secondary with Dartmouth EMS and am
involved in the Committee on Standards, DOC Trips, Green Corp$, and Cancer
Scholars. I studied abroad on the Japan LSA+ 15X and stayed in Japan on a
Computational Biology internship at Ochanomizu University in 15F, funded by Dickey!
I will be studying at Keio University in Tokyo, Japan in 17S. I love to watch anime
and movies, read fiction, play games, and, of course, eat! Feel free to email me at
[email protected]!
Hi! My name is Zainab, and I'm an '18 Neuroscience major from Houston, Texas. I am
a member for the Women's Varsity Soccer team, the Hill Winds Society, Female
Athletes at Dartmouth, and Kappa Delta Epsilon. Through these commitments, I am
able to travel quite a bit and interact with a lot of different people on campus. I
decided to stay in Hanover for my freshman summer to be a research assistant in the
Mood Disorders Clinic at DHMC. My research involves alternative treatments for
depression such as deep brain stimulation and transcranial magnetic stimulation, and
it has been such a rewarding experience. I love to travel and have been to a handful
of countries since coming to Dartmouth even though I haven't been able to go on an
LSA or FSP. As of now, my winter off term will be in New York City, and I'm really
looking forward to a change of pace from Hanover. Don't hesitate to email me at
[email protected] with any questions or concerns you have
My name is Carly Amon and I am ’17 from New York City. In addition to being PreMed, I am majoring in Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, with a concentration on the
Middle East and North Africa. In my free time I love to cook, ski, drink seltzer water
and watch Grey’s Anatomy. On campus I am a member of Dartmouth Ski Patrol, and
I am on the DOC First Year Trips 2016 Directorate. Last year I completed a research
project in the Taube Lab as a Presidential Scholar. I also lead study groups for a
variety of Pre-Health classes through the Academic Skills Center. For my off term I
interned in a hospital in Washington D.C. and worked on maternal and infant health
public health programs. This experience has inspired me to continue to pursue public
health and I am considering an MDMPH degree. I am very excited to be a pre health
mentor, and please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns! You
can contact me at [email protected]
Hi! My name is Gautham and I'm a '17 from Bedford, NH. I am majoring in biology

Hi! My name is Niamé I’m an ’18 from Mali and Swaziland. I am double majoring in
Biology and Sociology with the intention of pursuing a career in public health. On
campus, I am in the exec board for DASA (Dartmouth African Students Association), I
dance with Soyeya, I work at the Rockefeller Center where I do database
management and I am an intern for Pathways to Medicine. Last summer for my first
off term, I went home to Swaziland and I shadowed a lab technician at a hospital.
For my sophomore summer, I will be working on campus as a student intern for the
Academic Skills Center. I really enjoy having long conversations, reading and
watching Netflix. I also enjoy playing all types of sports and taking care of my
plants.
Hello! My name is Kate Herrington and I am a '17 from Denver, Colorado. On
campus, I am the photography editor for The Dartmouth and have been a research
assistant in Professor Bucci's neuroscience lab. I served as one of the Volunteer
Coordinators for the Special Olympics this past spring and am also a member of
Alpha Phi sorority. I spent the summer after my freshman year teaching tennis at a
summer camp in Maine. I also studied abroad on the French LSA+ my sophomore
winter and spent this past winter doing research in the Angelman Syndrome Clinic at
Massachusetts General Hospital. I love to ski, travel, take photos, eat delicious food,
and talk a lot:) Feel free to email me if you have any questions or just want to talk at
[email protected].
Hello there! My name is Angelina (but you can call me Angie) and I'm an '18 from
Andover, MA. I'm majoring in Classical Archaeology and also completing the Global
Health Certificate through the Dickey Center. On campus I'm involved with a few
things. I am a member of XD, I was a SEAD mentor this past summer, I'm on the
executive board of Link Up, and I'm the social chair at Aquinas House (the Catholic
Student Center), where I also do weekly volunteer work. I studied abroad during 15F
on the Classics FSP to Rome where I spent ten weeks climbing through
catacombs/tombs/other cool old things, so if you ever want to discuss the Romans
and/or early Christianity, I'm your girl. I'm looking forward to this spring and summer,
when I will be traveling to Haiti to help build a medical clinic and complete the
capstone for my Global Health Certificate. For fun I love doing outdoor activities with
my friends like running, hiking, canoeing, swimming but I also love ice cream and
chocolate, so it all balances out. I'm also a pretty avid bookworm, particularly sci-fi
so definitely get in touch if you want to geek out over something cool. As far as med
school and later life goes I know that I want to become a pediatrician, but I don't
know if I want to specialize in anything quite yet. My little brother has autism though,
so I'm very active in the special needs community! If you ever have a question or want
to talk, I love hanging out on the green and/or getting coffee at Dirt, so feel free to
contact me any time at [email protected].
Hi! My name is Kennedy and I'm an '18 from Upstate New York. I am a Biology
major and Global Health minor. On campus, I volunteer with a fantastic program
called Find the Courage for elementary school students and serve as captain for the
Fellowship of Christian Athletes. I work as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant in the

fun group of people! I'm crazy about running - always trails and as far as possible! In
my free time, I love drawing, painting and doing anything and everything outdoors.
You can always reach me at [email protected].
Hi! My name is Emily and I'm a '17 from Franconia, NH and I am a History major. In
my time at Dartmouth I have been involved with the Women's Alpine Ski Team,
Sophomore Science Scholars working with a doctor at Geisel, tutoring Latin, OLE,
member of Kappa Delta Epsilon, and I work as a Ceramics Student Assistant at the
Pottery Studio. For my off term I went to Colorado and interned with a Podiatrist full
time in Boulder, logged over 40 hours of OR shadowing and left plenty of time to hit
the slopes and get my skiing fix in. When I find the time, I enjoy adventuring in the
outdoors including but not limited to: cycling, hiking, swimming, and skiing (in case that
wasn't covered). I also enjoy watching the Office or Friends on Netflix, knitting, and
making gifts for people in the Ceramics Studio in my free time. Please feel free to
contact me about anything at [email protected].
Hi :) My name is Enat Arega and I am an '18 from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, although I
currently reside in Seattle, Washington. I am majoring in Biological Sciences and
possibly minoring in African and African American Studies. On campus, I am very
active in Dartmouth African Students Association, Soyeya African Dance Troupe,
Dartmouth Alliance for Children of Color, and the Afro-Diaspora Living and Learning
Center. Additionally, I was a research assistant at a physiology/neurobiology lab at
DHMC, provide child care at DHMC, and work at HOP as a gallery attendant and
head usher. My freshman summer, I went home to Seattle and worked as a teacher
assistant at East African Community Center's summer school. During winterim of 2015,
I visited home in Ethiopia and shadowed different doctors at multiple hospitals and
clinics. This experience solidified my interest in medicine and global health. In my free
time, I enjoy reading about ancient history and playing soccer and family games with
friends. If you have any questions or just want someone to vent to about life, feel free
to email me at [email protected]!

a major in chemistry and a minor in economics. On campus, I work at the medical
school as a research assistant, I volunteer for a number of organizations on campus, I
am a tutor and mentor, and I am a member of Sigma Nu. During my summers, I often
work on research in a lab at Weill Cornell Medical School. In my free time, I enjoy

reading and watching television shows. If you want to talk to me about anything email me at [email protected].
Hi! My name is Nicholas Norwitz. I am an 18’ from Newton, Massachusetts doubling
majoring in Neuroscience and Biology. Outside of the classroom I work in a genetics
lab that investigates molecular aging in oocytes. I have a lot of experience tutoring
and mentoring, including tutoring seven different STEM courses and working as a
freshman peer mentor (not to mention almost two decades as the eldest sibling of
three). My non-academic interests include endurance sports, cooking, eating, and
traveling. I was the youngest qualifier for the 2014 Boston Marathon, hold the state
push-up record for Massachusetts (at 427), make superb ravioli and brownies, have
consumed scorpions, frog ovaries, and duck’s tongue, and have been to every
continent except Antarctica (although I’d love to run the Antarctic marathon someday).
I am not a big TV person, but I am a diehard GOT fan and hope to find time this
summer to watch season seven in my “Khaleesi for President 2016” shirt. I am also a
Goldwater Scholar, two-time Rufus Choate Scholar, and a member of Sigma Xi.
Please feel free to blitz me about anything, or (even better) I would genuinely love
the opportunity to get to know you on a more personal level over dinner at foco. My
email is: [email protected].
Hey! My name is Brendan Barth and I’m a ’17 from good old Hanover, NH. At
Dartmouth, I am a classic major along with being a pre-med student. Out of class, I
am a member of the men’s soccer team, fellow in the Rockefeller Leadership Fellows
program, member of Alpha Delta, and a member of the Fellowship of Christian
Athletes. I have also played saxophone in the Barbary Coast Jazz Ensemble, and I
joined a smaller band called Half The City, which has been an incredible part of my
Dartmouth experience. During terms off, I was a research assistant with a pediatrician
at DHMC, and I studied abroad on the Classics FSP to Greece my sophomore spring,
where I made many memories with incredible people. My junior winter, I volunteered
in a Health clinic in New Zealand while living in a beach house with a kiwi host family.
I also had the opportunity to travel around New Zealand, which is literally paradise. I
want to live there some day. The summer going into my senior year I did research at
Children’s hospital in Boston in the Pediatric Endocrinology department. I enjoy
spending as much time in the outdoors as possible in my free time–especially fly
fishing with my two brothers. Feel free to email me about anything!
[email protected]
Hello! My name is Kelsey and I’m a ’17 from Burlingame, CA (a small city just south of
San Francisco). I am a Neuroscience major and Spanish minor, and completed the
Spanish FSP in Madrid my junior fall. On campus, I’m a coxswain on the men’s
lightweight rowing team (yes, a girl on a men’s team), an eating disorder peer
advisor, and a member of Alpha Phi sorority. During my off-terms, I have worked at
2 Bay Area biotech companies performing lab-based HIV research at one and
working in a clinical research group at the other, as well as in the clinical trials group
at the SF-based tech company, Lumosity. All these jobs were pretty standard 9a-6p
hours, so I had a lot of free time to travel, cook, eat, hike, ski and explore the West
Coast (if you ever want to hear someone gush about their love for the Golden state,
I’m your girl :) I love mornings, morning runs, sunrises and hate sleeping in, I hate
avocados and prefer eating cereal at night rather than the morning (yes, I’m
abnormal), and I enjoy doing anything that let’s me spend the whole day outside (like
backpacking, biking, or people watching in parks). If you have any questions ever, or
just want to hear me ramble some more, feel free to email me at
[email protected]!
HI! My name is Valerie and I’m a ’15 from Los Angeles. I graduated from Dartmouth
June 2015 with a major in Neuroscience and I returned to campus as the Health
Professions Program Fellow last year and will continue for the 2016-2017 year. As
a student, I was member of the Women’s Varsity Swimming team, a research assistant
in two neuroscience labs, member of Alpha Xi Delta, and a WISP peer mentor. I
studied abroad on the French LSA+ in Toulouse, France and through that abroad
experience, I visited 8 countries and 15 different cities. After graduation, I traveled
to Cusco, Peru to volunteer in a medical clinic and it was truly a life-changing
experience! I believe that I am suffering from a serious case of wanderlust and I hope
that my love of travel and curiosity in other cultures will tie into my medical career
one day. I also enjoy watching Netflix on the reg, reading dystopian novels, and
attempting to cook. Feel free to email me about anything and everything at
[email protected].
