GUIDE TO CLEANING NATURAL
MAKEUP BRUSHES
It’s something that often escapes our notice, but many people never think clean their
makeup brushes.
It is important to clean the makeup brushes to get rid of all the dirt, dead skin cells and bacteria that can accumulate
after regular use. This is especially important of you have oily skin and acne. With proper maintenance, you can
minimize shedding and keep your brushes soft and clean for years.
Between Makeup Applications
1. Take your brush and wipe off any excess product onto a microfiber towel.
2. Spot clean with a non-rinse spray cleanser. This step is crucial if you have oily, acne-prone skin. Find a cleanser
that uses food-grade alcohol to gently sanitize your brush and to keep the hair soft between washings.
3. Let dry.
Bi-monthly Cleanings
1. Deep clean your brushes every one to two months with a gentle brush shampoo. Wet the bristles under warm
water, angling downward to ensure the metal part of the brush does not get wet. This can destroy the grip if the
wood gets wet and swells underneath the metal portion.
2. Place a few drops in the palm of your hand. Now swish the bristles into your palm of your hand. You should see
makeup pigment being released onto your hand. Repeat until there is no pigment left.
4. Rinse the brush the same way you washed it, with the brush being angled downward. Use your fingers to get all
the makeup and soap out of the brush.
5. Squeeze out any excessive water and place your brush in a brush guard. The brush guard will maintain your
brush’s shape.
6. Place the brush upside down to dry overnight. Again, try to not get the metal handle wet during this process.

MY NAME IS LUCY BARTON
BY ELIZABETH STROUT
Financial Corner
As Lucy Barton is recovering from what
should be a simple operation, she is
hospitalized for a bit longer due to a
mysterious fever. During her stay at the
hospital and possible threat to her life, Lucy’s
mother visits; a mother she hasn’t spoken to in
years.
While gossiping about people from Lucy’s
childhood, mother and daughter seem to
reconnect. Below the surface lies tension and
longing that have formed every aspect of
Lucy’s life: her escape from her troubled
family, her desire to become a writer, her
marriage, her love for her daughters.
Elizabeth Strout shines a light on the powerful
relationship between a mother and child.
Financial commitment has nothing to do with
whether you are smart or wealthy; it has more to do
with being financially literate. Even smart and
wealthy people make poor monetary decisions. If
you are like many Americans, you spend more than
you save. To reverse that behavior, you need to be
disciplined and do some planning. Here are some
steps to put you in the direction of savings.
1.
Question your needs and wants. What do you
want? What do you really need? Start
evaluating your financial situation with those
questions in mind.
2. Set Guidelines. Figure out your parameters
and stick within those guidelines.
3. Track your spending. Once you start tracking,
you may be surprised to find you spend so
much money in a specific area that you hadn’t
even considered. Some of these expenses are
easy to cut back. However, be realistic when
tightening your belt.
4. Helping others. Do not give of yourself
financially if it erodes your financial security.
For example, don’t be afraid to say no to
cosigning a loan if it will hurt your financial
security.
5. Understand the importance of delayed
satisfaction.
Don’t spend all your money
today. You need to invest today’s dollar for
tomorrow’s goal. That can come in the form of
a home, retirement or save for a vacation that
you can pay for with cash.
5. Location changes. You think you know where the
items are in the store you frequent the most and then
the items are no longer there? Very frustrating. Stores
often switch up shelves to keep you in the store longer.
Thus, possibly buying more.
Grocery Store
Tips
678-786-3281
Grocery stores are set up and designed by experts to
persuade you to spend more money. Making a list
before you go to the grocery store is a very important
step. Sticking to that list is the smartest thing you can
do. Below are some grocery store tricks.
1. Ten for $10 deal. Buying ten items for only $10 is a
good deal, if you use those items. Many times you can
get the item for $1 each instead of buying all ten. That
is not always true, so check with the store. We aware
by that advertisement, it is designed to trick you into
thinking you need to buy more because it’s a great
deal.
2. Pre-cut products. Pre-cut packaging looks nice and
easy for you. However, you are paying a large price for
a lot less product.
3. Bigger carts. Research shows that consumers are
likely to buy more when the size of their shopping cart
is bigger. Try using a smaller cart or a hand held
basket. That will help you steer clear of temptations as
it will be harder to carry more items.
6. Floral department and bakery department tend to be
in the front of the store. There is a reason for that. The
scent of fresh flowers can put you in a good mood
when you enter the store. Good mood, can mean
spending more. The smell of baked goods can activate
your salivary glands and make you hungry. Just in
time for your shopping trip. When you are hungry, you
tend to buy more when grocery shopping.
7. Eye level placement. Name brand items are usually
placed at eye level. That makes it easier for you to not
have to search the shelves. If you look up and down,
you will probably find the same item, different brand
or generic, but priced less.
8. Ads are not always sale prices. Sometimes items are
put in the ad to get that item on your radar or to push
products that don’t sell as much.
9. Basic items are in the back of the store. You notice
milk, eggs and bread tend to be in the back of the store.
The store wants you to walk through the entire store
to get these items, in the hope you will pick up
something else along the way.
Keep these tips in mind next time you go shopping.
4. Check out items. While waiting for the customer in
front of you, the temptation is there to buy candy, gum
or magazines. Be aware, this placement is intentional.
