the course the talks weekly schedule study guide

I would like to participate in the In The Beginning course.
I am interested in volunteering to help run the In The Beginning course.
The In the Beginning Study Guide is a vital companion
to the DVD series. Besides containing the main content
of the four presentations by Fr. Robert J. Spitzer, S.J.,
Ph.D., the Study Guide also includes further explanations
of the course’s central themes, biographies of influential
figures and leading scientists pertinent to the subject,
space for taking notes, quotations and scripture passages
for personal consideration, a glossary of scientific
terminology, original diagrams, definitions of key terms
and concepts, reflection questions for individual use
or small group discussion, findings from numerous
scientific studies, weekly prayers and much more!

There is no contradiction between faith and reason. This encouraging truth is the
bedrock for In the Beginning: Evidence For God From Physics. Ideal for the inquiring
mind, this series features four talks by Fr. Robert J. Spitzer, S.J., Ph.D. which were
shot before a live audience.
A former president of Gonzaga University from 1998-2009, Fr. Spitzer has
authored several books including New Proofs for the Existence of God: Contributions
of Contemporary Physics and Philosophy. The In the Beginning course explores the
content of this book including what, if any, the limits
of scientific evidence are and whether such evidence
provides support for a beginning and design of the
universe. The Big Bang Theory is also addressed as is the
oscillating universe theory and the multiverse theory.
Additionally, Fr. Spitzer speaks to the following •The Big Bang and Our Universe
questions: is the Bible doing science and can human beings •Did the Universe Have a Beginning?
•Is There Evidence of Fine-tuning, Design and
be explained by an evolutionary (biophysical) process
Intelligence in the Universe?
alone? The final week of the course explores evidence for
survival of human consciousness after death as well as the •Physics, Evolution and the Bible
possibility for extraterrestrial life.

faith programs.
Fr. Spitzer writes
extensively on the
status of physical
time, the intersection
between physics and
metaphysics as well as
the evidence for God
from physics, logic
and the philosophy
of mathematics. He
has published five
books including the
award-winning New Proofs for the Existence of
God: Contributions of Contemporary Physics and
Philosophy. He is the author of many scholarly
articles and a producer of documentaries in the
field of contemporary cosmology and creation.
