Author’s Celebration
We loved celebrating our writing! Our
Aut hor Celebration was a huge
success!
Writers received their first
piece of writing they did in
Kindergarten and compared that to the
true story they published for the
Author’s Celebration! My, oh my, have
we grown! Most students did not even
put any letters or words down! Now,
we ’r e w r i t i n g t r u e s t o r i e s w i t h
beginnings, middles, and endings! We
read our writing to the guests who
were able to make it, and received
compliments on our writing.
If you
were not able to make it to this
celebration, don’t worry, there will
more more opportunities to come in!
There were plenty of adults, teachers,
and all 3 administrators there
supporting and listening to all of our
kinder writers! I hope you were able to
spend some time looking over your
child’s work, final piece, and the
compliment page! Some things we’ve
been working on are writing true
stories with a beginning, middle and
end, using lowercase letters, spelling
heart words correctly, spaces between
words, and end marks. Thank you for
supporting your published author!
Overheard
in Kindergarten
This week, we learned about synonyms
and ant onyms! We lear ned t he
difference by singing along to a song
called Synonym Stomp! We made
mini-books to showcase our learning
about synonyms and antonyms and
practiced using t hat word in a
sentence.
Anytime you see an
opportunity to talk about synonyms
and antonyms with your child, please
do so!
days smarter! Please read the letter
that was sent home yesterday, or see
the link on our website blog that gives
you information regarding your child’s
100 Day Project. This should be a fun
activity that your child enjoys. He/she
should be able to count up to 100 and
help sort the 100 objects into 10
groups of 10. Practice counting by 5s
and by 10s, too!
Projects will be
displayed in the hallway for the school
to view, and are due on Thursday,
February 16. Please do not send them
in early, as we are limited on storage
space!
Special Request: toys
We have had a lot of students bring
to ys, lip gloss, stuffe d an imals,
Hatchimals, keychains, etc. to school.
We know how much our kiddos love
these toys, but please encourage them
to keep them safe at home.
Thank
you for keeping an extra eye out for
these toys and making sure they don’t
sneak into backpacks!
