all contain an ergonomic basic configuration:
KaVo has always convinced in terms of ergonomics and comfort.
Already at the beginning of the 20th century, KaVo dental instruments were developed with a view on ergonomics. Then in 1965
the ergonomic revolution: a patient chair with completely new
lying position offers dentists for the first time a healthy, fatiguefree posture. Patients experience a level of comfort, previously
unknown. During that time freely suspended instrument hoses
offered additional ergonomics due to shorter reaching distances.
Even today KaVo stands for ultimate demands on ergonomic and
smooth treatment processes. Each KaVo product ist tailored precisely to the requirements of patients and dentists – for outstanding ergonomics and the upmost in comfort.

AGR seal of approval for KaVo
ESTETICA® E70 and E80.
The treatment units KaVo ESTETICA E70 and
E80 have been awarded the AGR (Campaign
for Healthier Backs) seal of approval.
Thus the seal for a back-friendly environment was for the first time
given to dental workplaces. An independent, multidisciplinary
expert panel awards the prize on the basis of stringent test criteria
for ergonomics and health.

The best position for the patient
The extreme lowest working position of 395 mm
(for KaVo Primus 1058 and KaVo ESTETICA E50)
and 350 mm (for KaVo ESTETICA E30, E70 and
E80) allows a natural body posture when treating seated patients. This is particularly advantageous for shorter dentists.
The highest working position of 780 mm (for
KaVo Primus 1058 and KaVo ESTETICA E50),
830 mm (KaVo ESTETICA E30) and 900 mm
(for KaVo ESTETICA E70 and E80) allows you to
treat supine patients while standing – even
dentists taller than 1.80 m.
Thanks to a perfectly harmonized ratio of
backrest inclination to foot rest lowering, your
patients always lie ergonomically correct. The
Trendelenburg movement moreover prevents
the patient from being squashed or stretched
while the backrest is being adjusted.

Good posture for the dental assistant
The KaVo foot control is operated by moving
the foot to the right/left (no up/down movements). This concept allows for muscle stress
free operation, even when standing. The cordless version means that the foot control can
be placed wherever it is required.
The dentist element can be swivelled and
adjusted in height, and with the ergonomic
handle it can always be positioned ideally and
precisely where you want to have it. Thanks to
the integrated display you always see all of
the important information at a glance.
The height-adjustable KaVo assistant element
(optional for KaVo ESTETICA E50, not available
for KaVo ESTETICA E30) ensures a stress-free
and ergonomically healthy workflow – no matter whether your assistant works seated or
standing.
The great 1965 innovation: with the treatment unit
1025, patients are ergonomically treated in the
supine position.
Already in the 20s, KaVo developed the first sterilizable
dental handpieces, thereby offering better infection
protection to both the dentist and the patient.

The motor-driven horizontal movement enables a constant position of the patient’s head
– even when switching between upper and
lower jaw treatment. Thus neither the position
of the operating light nor that of the dentist
element has to be changed.
The innovative suspended chair concept gives
you the crucial freedom of movement. For the
area beneath the patient chair is completely
accessible to you and your assistant. You have
more than enough space for comfortable leg
positioning and a relaxed seated position. Your
work becomes less tiring and your processes
will become more efficient.
The Progress backrest is available for all treatment units in a slender version. The latter supports a back-friendly working position due to
very close proximity to the patient. For the
KaVo ESTETICA E70 and E80 as well as for the
COMPACTchair the Comfort backrest is also
available. As the name says, this backrest
offers your patients maximum comfort.
Optimum ergonomics owing to low 45-cm
table height and balanced swing-arm clamp.
With the swing-arm version, the dentist element can be optimally positioned in any treatment situation. Much freedom of movement is
also offered by the generous 90-cm extension
length of the instrument hoses.
With the seat elevation, patients of different
heights always have the optimum lying position because the stretching effect, squashing
of the abdominal muscles and a hollow back
are thus prevented. Children also always lie in
an ergonomically healthy treatment position.
For the KaVo ESTETICA E80 treatment unit this
function is adjustable via a motor.
Comfort and ergonomics also for older
patients. The KaVo COMPACTchair can be folded for comfortable entry and exit: from the
80° seated position continuously into the
supine position. It is flexibly adjustable for the
most pleasant treatment position.

With the operating light KaVoLUX 540 LED you can enjoy all advantages of the most advanced LED technology and optimum ergonomic
treatment conditions. The contact-free operation is comfortable and
simple. The uniform light field is naturally white and of the highest
light quality.
The KaVo PHYSIO Evo chair has also been
awarded the seal of approval of the AGR e.V.
for its ergonomic concept. Seat and backrest
are anatomically shaped and individually
adjustable. The compact construction and small
diameter of the base offer plenty of freedom of movement even in
confined spaces. The central ridge in the seat cushion provides a stable
seating position and prevents sliding even in the case of short, quick
rolling motions. The variable height adjustment of the seat cushion
between 465 mm and 660 mm ensures comfortable, healthy positioning. In addition, soft, brake-equipped casters allow controlled rolling
motions.

straight or a contra-angle handpiece – always lie perfectly balanced between the finger and the hand rest area. This balanced
instrument handling permits precise and relaxed working anytime.
With its brushless motor design and up-to-date LED technology the KaVo INTRA LUX KL 703 LED convinces because of its long
service life, and it can be universally applied because of the plug &
play operation of the INTRAmatic coupling. The SMARTdrive* motor

For ergonomic reasons the KaVoLUX 540 LED is designed so that it
can be switched on and off or the lighting can be altered in a
contact-free manner; it can also be simply and comfortably operated

Backaches: multiple causes and severe consequences.
This “common ailment” affects a large proportion of the population; many people are impacted to such a degree that they
can no longer work.For this reason, Aktion Gesunder Rücken e.V.
(AGR) has used information campaigns and a quality seal for
almost 20 years to fight for products which are kind to the back.

Awkward work positions and motion
sequences lead to back complaints.
Of central importance for back, shoulder
and neck aches are poor ergonomic
positions and unilateral strains at the
workplace.
Since its founding in 1995, AGR e.V. has been following a holistic
approach in the treatment and prevention of back complaints. The
purpose of the association is to create awareness concerning backaches and to advise how they can be reduced or completely
prevented in everyday life. Furthermore, the AGR e.V. awards a
quality seal to products that are particularly good for the back.
The seal of approval was developed in cooperation with Germany’s
two largest back school associations: the BdR e.V. – Federal
Association of German Back Schools and the Forum Gesunder
Rücken - besser leben e.V. – Forum Healthier Backs – For a Better
Life. Members of this registered association are exclusively doctors
and therapists.
A deciding factor for the award is among other things a product’s
overall ergonomic concept. The examination phase is independent
from manufacturer and AGR e.V. Usually once a year a multi-disciplinary panel of experts from medical science and therapy decides
upon the granting of the award.
The first step is the submission of a product by its manufacturer.
Secondly, the manufacturer has to demonstrate the product’s capability and establish why it would merit the title “back-friendly”.
Most applications fail at this stage. Of 100 products submitted,
maximally five remain at this stage. Then doctors and therapists
establish criteria for the product under scrutiny. During the last step,
the independent panel examines the product and decides on the
award of the seal.

The title “Tested & Recommended” is awarded only to products that
fulfill the strict evaluation criteria of an independent, multidisciplinary
expert panel, comprised of medical practitioners and therapists.

been praised by - amongst others - the ÖKO-TEST magazine, for
transparency and independence in awarding the seal.
