YOUTH AND COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION (YCT) PROJECT
LIFE SKILLS FACILITATOR
The Government of Belize (GOBZ) (hereinafter called “Recipient”) has received financing
(hereinafter called “Financing”) from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) in an amount
equivalent to US 5,305,000 towards the cost of the Youth and Community Transformation
(YCT) Project. The Ministry of Human Development, Social Transformation and Poverty
Alleviation, the executing agency, intends to apply a portion of the proceeds of this Financing to
eligible payments under a contract for Life Skills Facilitator.
The Youth and Community Transformation Project under the Ministry of Human Development,
Social Transformation and Poverty Alleviation announces recruitment of Life Skills Facilitators
to support the implementation of our SCAIS Program. SCAIS is a specialized life skills
program that focuses on the core areas of Self-esteem, Conflict resolution, Anger Management,
Independent living Skills and targets adolescents in various settings, including those out-ofschool and those in conflict with the law.
Facilitators are being recruited for implementation of SCAIS in Belize City within the
following facilities: Samuel Haynes Institute of Excellence, Y.M.C.A., Yabra Community
Resource Center and identified primary and high schools in Belize City.
Duration: 1 year contract
Duties:
1. Promote the SCAIS program within the community and among key stakeholders to
support recruitment of participants.
2. Liaise with lead agencies under the YCT project and identified schools to implement the
SCAIS program within those communities
3. Engage in outreach and recruitment efforts to enroll participants
4. Coordinate with sites to ensure that logistics are set in place for the implementation of
SCAIS.
5. Plan and facilitate life skills session as outlined in the SCAIS programme and ensure
integrity of the content is maintained.
6. Follow-up with participants to sustain their engagement throughout the program cycle
7. Determine incentives to keep participants motivated and engaged in the program
8. Keep attendance records for participants and track their progress throughout the cycle
9. Prepare weekly individual reports and periodic program reports
10. Upload progress notes onto FAMCARE as necessary
11. Make referrals for additional services for participants should the need arise.
12. Coordinate community service activities as one of the culminating aspects of the SCAIS
program
13. Prepare closing ceremonies for each cycle of SCAIS
14. Submit periodic reports of activities
15. Other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Skills, Knowledge and Attitude:
 Genuine care and willingness to work with at-risk adolescents and those in conflict with
the law.
 Creativity, charisma and energy to engage young persons
 Strong oral and written communication skills
 Experience in group work with adolescents
 Strong facilitation skills and ability to impart knowledge to others
 Ability to work independently and responsibly
 Good planning, coordination and organizational skills
 Strong outreach and networking skills
Qualifications:
Associate Degree in Social Work, Education or Social Science with at least one (1) year working
with adolescents, OR active enrolment in a degree program in the areas above with at least two
(2) years’ experience working with adolescents.
