Welcome to Afternoon Tea at Mandarin Oriental,
New York’s Lobby Lounge. Our Afternoon Tea
experience is one that will celebrate where you are –
at the Mandarin Oriental, known for our Asian
Heritage, and also in New York City, a city
renowned for its culinary delights. We would like to
take you around the world, beginning in Asia,
journeying through Europe and America, and
returning, full circle, to Asia.
Our journey begins in the East, where our teas are
sourced exclusively from Asia, with blends from
Japan, India, Ceylon and China. Using only the
finest sources, each tea has been selected to elevate
your mood and experience. Choose from an array of
artisanal teas, ranging from invigorating, caffeinated
choices to relaxing and soothing green and herbal
selections.
We then move west to England, renowned for
Traditional Afternoon Tea. Inspired by the timebound tradition of scones and tea, we offer you our
homemade signature Ginger Scones, baked fresh
daily, and only available with Afternoon Tea Service.
Our scones are presented with the traditional
accompaniments of English Devonshire Cream,
Seasonal Jams made by our pastry chefs.
Our next stop is New York, a culinary destination in
and of itself! Innovative and creative, our Tea
Sandwiches are inspired by our eclectic city and are a
reinvention of classic tea sandwiches with a dynamic
twist. Our Egg Salad Sandwich is inspired by the
great tradition of deli sandwiches, while our
Watercress and Burrata Cheese represents all the
Union Square Green Market has to offer. We use
locally sourced ingredients to create a selection of
exciting sandwiches with bold and adventurous
flavors.
Finally, our journey brings us back to Asia – we end
the tea service with a choice of Asian-inspired treats
and desserts including as a green tea financier and
Passion fruit meringue tart to round out your
experience.

Mandarin Oriental Signature Tea
Rose of New York

Blended exclusively for Mandarin Oriental New
York, this floral Ceylon black tea blend is
accented with rose, the official flower of New
York State.
White Tea
Organic Jasmine Pearl
Low Caffeine
A true white tea, hand-picked, meticulously
perfumed, and then sorted twice (by size) in the
mountainous Fuding, Fujian Province of China.
This selection has an intoxicating aroma of
jasmine blossom.
Green Teas
Long Life Green
High antioxidants and low caffeine.
Enlighten with anti-oxidant rich, pure green tea.
This tea has a fresh aroma with hay notes.
Antioxidant-rich Organic Long Life Green
supports health and inspires balance in a fastpaced world.
Lychee Green

Native to the Guangdong and Fujian provinces
of China, Lychee offers a sweet and nutty,
enveloping floral bouquet that is soft and
exotically mellow on the palate. The Master
Blender suggests steeping this particular Chinese
green tea for a mere 45 seconds to capture all of
the intense floral taste.
Oolong Tea

Medium Caffeine
Grown in the ancient mountains of San Lun
Shih, Taiwan, this Tung Ting oolong undergoes
a short fermentation to refine the flavor and
orchid character. Grown at 800m elevation, the
Tung Ting region of Taiwan is typically
covered by fog and clouds which facilitates the
concentration of flavor. Our Master Blender
infuses this highly prized “Frozen Summit”
oolong with the essence of Mandarin for a
subtle citrus finish.
Imperial Oolong
High complexity and medium caffeine.
The Dragon signifies noble strength and
imperial power while its red hue is associated
with the Fire element. What a perfect match for
the sophisticated palate of Organic Imperial
Oolong with its estate leaves, hand-picked at
dawn to capture flavor at its peak with floral
notes of orchid..

Blended true to the origin of “English
Breakfast,” our connoisseur grade is primarily
China Keemun tea. Known as the Burgundy of
the tea world, Keemun is prized for its winelike, full-bodied character, combined with an
exquisite orchid-like aroma. A hint of Ceylon
black tea is added to sweeten this traditional
cup.
Tealeaves premium Earl Grey blend of Ceylon,
India and China estate black teas with a hint of
natural, cold-pressed bergamot. Prized for its
uplifting and restorative properties, it is a cup of
liquid sunshine!
