Life Science: How we can describe the living things around us. The
students will describe and observe similarities and differences in
different animals that hatch from eggs. To give the children hands on
experience with this, we will hatch chicks in an incubator in the
classroom. It takes 21 days for the chicks to hatch, so we won’t see
any chicks for a few weeks!
We have frog eggs! Some books we will use to learn about frog
development are: Frogs, From Tadpole to Frog, and Growing Frogs.
During this mini unit the children will see the development of a frog
first hand, use life cycle stamps and books to understand the
continuation of a frog’s life cycle.
Language Arts: Some of the things your child will be doing this week
are listening to stories about animals that hatch from eggs, retelling
and sequencing stories, keeping a chick journal to record the
development inside the eggs, matching rhyming pictures and practicing
ending sounds.
Please read the “Home Project” note for information about what your
child will need to create. Please contact me with any questions.
