Imperialism Editorial Directions
Based on information from your textbook, discussions in class, and our class debate write an editorial on
imperialism. Write an editorial that explains your view of being Pro-American Imperialism or Anti-American
Imperialism. Use specific, accurate text evidence to explain in detail your reasons for your viewpoint and
acknowledge the opposing side’s viewpoint.
Format: (ACE – Assertion, Cite Text Evidence, Explanation/Analysis of Text)
Introductory Sentence – Cleary states your view of imperialism, states your two reasons, and acknowledges
the opposing view point.
Paragraph 1 – Explains your first reason for your opinion, uses text evidence to support your opinion, and
analyzes & explains the text evidence in your own words
Paragraph 2 - Explains your second reason for your opinion, uses text evidence to support your opinion, and
analyzes & explains the text evidence in your own words
Paragraph 3 – Explains the opposing viewpoint, uses text evidence to show why your opinion is still correct,
