Our learning this week
In our Maths this week we have
beening learning about lines of
symmetry. Do you know what
symmetry is? If you karate chop a
shape in half and put it next to a
mirror, if it looks like it’s complete
again, it has symmetry. We folded
our shapes then drew the lines of
symmetry. We were also looking at
3 different 2D shapes- hexagons,
octogons and pentagons. An octogon
has 8 sides just like an octopus has
8 legs. A pentagon has 5 sides and a
hexagon has 6 sides.

learning our spellings
and practising our
timestables every
night at home!
Spelling tests are on
Mondays.

In Literacy we have been learning
about Little Red Riding Hood. We had
to describe the characters using
adjectives. We wrote sentences about
Little Red Riding Hood, Granny, the Big
Bad Wolf and the Woodcutter using 2
or more adjectives. Here are some
examples of what we wrote. Little Red
Riding Hood wore a sparkly, shiny, red
dress. Granny had small, round, brown
glasses. The Big Bad Wolf had pointy,
yellow, sharp teeth. The Woodcutter
held a huge, sharp, metal axe.
In Science we have been learning
about rocks. We went around the
school looking for where rocks
were used. We found out how
hard rocks were by scraping
them. We also wanted to find out
if all rocks were waterproof. We
tested the rocks by putting
three drops of water on the top
of each one. We wanted to see if
some water went through. If it is
permeable it means that the
water will go through, but if it is
impermeable it means it doesn’t
go through.
We need parent helpers for our trip to the Jersey
Museum for our Neolithic workshop. If any of you are
available to help on Friday 14th October, please come in
