As the season draws to a close we like to wish the team good luck for their remaining games. The
title is very much in our own hands but whatever happens we are incredibly proud of the players
and their efforts this season. The fighting comeback against Oldswinford when we were 2-0 down
at half-time and the last minute winner against Gornal Colts, shows the character of the lads and
their ‘never give up’ attitude. We hear that the impassioned half time speech by our own Jon
(Winston Churchill) Hoult inspired the team to victory against Oldswinford!
………and then came Trysull! We all know that the team are capable of great things but for everyone
to play so well against a top quality side was truly awesome – a privilege to watch, if not so good for
the nerves! Well done everyone and good luck for the last two games – we have every faith you can
do it.
Presentation Night

June is

choice for those who don’t like fish – if you don’t
like chips tough!!!!!..)
It is with great sadness that will be saying

In all seriousness, we would like to wish
Gemma, Miles, Harry and Oliver all of the
best for the future and thank them for
being such good friends and part of the
Wordsley family over the last few years.
We’re really going to miss you.
It’s not all doom and gloom though as they

Congratulations to Carl and his Kidderminster Lions team who have secured 3rd place in Division 1 of
the Stourport League. Wordsley were well represented in the Lions by Priesty, Worthy, Ryan and
Azza – well done to you all.
Well done to Isaac, Ben, Morgan, Ryan and Jacko who helped Brierley Hill and
Dudley District U11s into the final of the Burton Shield with a 5-0 victory over
Telford & Wrekin (inspired by a superb Beno hatrick). Before the final however
the boys still have a title decider to play against Solihull District on Thursday.
Good Luck guys!
Also well done to Ben who represented Belle Vue School in the Midlands Regional
Championships in Nottingham. Unfortunately the team lost in a penalty shoot out
in the semi finals (after some dubious goal line technology) but what a fantastic
achievement to be there. Well done Beno.

In response to a number of queries about my intentions for next
year I would like to confirm that Wordsley Wasps North will play
at under 12s in the SDYFL again next season.
I have been asked by various people, including WBA, if I will put our whole team into the Midlands
Junior Premier League (JPL). I have replied ‘no, for the time being’. As Child Welfare Officer for
Wordsley Wasps I personally believe that our children are too young to play in the JPL until they
are at least 15 or 16. I think that they still need their football to be fun but constructive and to
be able to develop with hardly any travelling.
I think that some people who are in the process of setting up a squad(s) for the JPL are actually
disrupting teams at the top of the league which is not helpful to any of the clubs involved at this
stage of the season.
I will reconsider entering the JPL when the boys are old enough to understand when to rest, what
to eat correctly, when to eat it and when they are able to understand the impact of travelling long
distances. I also believe that parents need to be aware that that not every game is on the door
step. The standard of the JPL is not the same as it was 5 years ago when teams were entered by
invite only. Today anyone with sufficient money can enter, irrespective of how good they are which
leads to the conclusion that teams are being allowed in for financial reasons only.
Anybody who wishes to discuss any of my words further please feel free to talk to me or give me a
phone call
Thanks
Jerry
