The Holocaust - Research 9/6/2011 12:21:00 PM The Holocaust was a dark period in history during which millions of people were systematically destroyed by Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Germany. These people were targeted by the Nazis because of their religion, culture and/or their lifestyle. People targeted included Jews, Gypsies and Homosexuals. By reading novels like Once we learn more about the Holocaust, the horror and destruction that occurred and the evil that people can do to each other when given the chance. Your task is to learn a bit more about the people responsible for the Holocaust, the places the Nazi’s created to take the lives of so many people, and to read about some of the people who were lucky enough to survive. For this research task you will be using the following question page to guide your work and record your answers for all of the tasks listed. Task 3: Survivors Directions: Your last task is to learn about the survivors of the Holocaust and hear their stories. Once you click on the link it will take you to a page titled A Teacher’s Guide To The Holocaust-Survivors. Once at this webpage, you must read the introductions and choose at least 3 survivor’s stories to read or watch on video. http://fcit.usf.edu/holocaust/people/survivor.htm The next step is to read and or watch the videos for those survivors. Once you have completed that, you must choose one survivor and then write about that person and how the Holocaust impacted their life. This response should include a brief history of the person, what happened to them during the Holocaust, and how they survived it. Before you begin writing, please use the focus questions below to plan out your response. This response should be at least 20 lines long.
