CONSORTIUM
Why certification?
• What is Qi?
– Qi is the worldwide standard for wireless charging
– Qi is described in the Qi specifications
• Part 1: interface description
• Part 2: performance requirements
• Part 3: compliance tests
<author>,
31 March 2015
– Qi is indicated by the Qi logo
– The Qi logo stands for interoperability: when you see the Qi logo
on the product, wireless charging works!
• Why certification?
– A certified Qi product has passed all compliance tests
– A certified Qi product is tested for interoperability
– Only certified products can carry the Qi logo

How does it work?
ATL: Authorized Test Lab.
– These labs are authorized by the WPC to do Qi compliance testing
according to the Qi spec part 3.
– They are audited and aligned by WPC
– ATL’s are commercial labs that offer commercial test services.
IOC: InterOperability Center
<author>,
31 March 2015
– This is a central Test Lab that maintains certified products in
“interoperability test beds” and performs interoperability tests on behalf
of WPC.
– Qi products that have passed compliance testing will be tested against
the interop test beds before they can be certified.
– Certified Qi products may be removed from the test beds (e.g. because
they are considered end of life)
CCT: Compliance and Compatibility Test Group
– This is the group in WPC where members, ATL’s and Test Tool suppliers
meet to discuss all certification related topics and procedures.

How does it work (ct’d)
Substantial similar:
– Means only differences that do not relate to the Qi functionality
– Differences could be a different color or brand.
– If a product is substantially similar to a certified product, they can skip
certification and can carry the logo
31 March 2015
Fully Compliant Subsystem:
<author>,
– A Qi transmitter module which is made for integration in a bigger
system, e.g. in a conference table or a car dashboard.
– The table or car can use the logo provided that the subsystem is fully
certified.
Registration (Listing)
– Certified and substantial similar products must be listed on the WPC
website.
– The listed products database enables market inspection and policing for
correct use of the logo by the WPC.

WIRELESS POWER
• WPC has selected Testronic Labs, Belgium to be IOC.
• Interop test specification is discussed and controlled by CCT
• In case of interop failures, WPC facilitates debugging.
• Only products that are both compliant and interoperable are
entitled to carry the Qi logo.
