problems. But in the pearl story it shows th at the Doctor who were in that society his character was
opposite of a real doctor. He was Greedy, Racist and Dishonest. With the people of the town.

The pearl is a story written by John Steinbeck. The story happen in Mexico (La Paz). The whole story
is about Kino and his wife and the little baby that they had (Coyotito) and the biggest pearl that kino
found from the ocean.

When the doctor know about the pearl that Kino find it from ocean he went there to help them.

He has come only to make money, and his greed distorts his human values. The doctor is duty to act
to save human life, but when confronted with someone whom he considers beneath him, the doctor
feels no such duty. His callous refusal to treat Coyotito for the scorpion sting because Kino lacks the
money to pay him thus demonstrates the human cost of political conquest rooted in the desire for
financial profit.
