dearest - cheapest - change - coins - pound - pence

The Seashore
We are very much looking forward to this topic. The seashore has lots of
interesting parts to investigate and lots of things to make and do.
All of the children are looking forward to ‘working’ in our ice-cream
van. Through a vote we decided on the name Ice-cream Crazy for
our van. Look out for any items in the house that you think may be
useful for us.
Junk Modeling
If you have any items that you can spare to help
us with this we would be very
grateful. We are looking for
kitchen roll tubes, boxes of
all shapes and sizes, shiny or
sparkly pieces of fabric or
paper and anything else you
can think of.
Daffodil Competition
Primary 2/1 were well
represented in this
competition by Harry Reid and
Daniel Tainsh.
Well done to Harry who won 1st
place and to Daniel who came in 2nd place out
of the whole school. Both of your daffodils
were super boys, congratulations!
Spend, spend and spend
While we will be having lots of fun working in our ice-cream van we will also be learning
valuable skills related to money. Your child will be looking at coins up to 1 pound and
using it to pay for items and give change. Please encourage your child to talk about
coins with you, which coins you are giving them for lunch money, to spend at the shop etc.
Some useful words to think about are:
dearest - cheapest - change - coins - pound - pence - total cost - count out the change
How much does it cost?
How much change?
How much did you spend?
Writing
We are striving to encourage the correct
letter formation at all times and this
continues to be practised in
school. When your child is
carrying out written homework
please encourage the correct
letter formation. If you need
any advice or have any questions about this
please do not hesitate to get in contact.
