Is it possible to know the Word of God and not really understand it? Explain? How does this happen? 2. Lanny spoke of having perspective from God’s point of view. Give an example of how this makes a difference. Wonder - ask questions of the text. Observe - what does the text mean. Reflect - what are the implications for my life? Do it! - now apply the teaching. 2. Perspective . 3. Four benefits were listed (that come from Perspective); which is most meaningful to you. 4. Read Galatians 5:22-23, the fruit of the Spirit. It causes us to love God more. “[that you] may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:18-19 b. It helps us resist temptation. “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.” Proverbs 14:12 c. It helps us handle trials. “For you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.” James 1:3 “Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2 d. It protects us from error. 3. Conviction. “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:2 4. Skills. “But he answered them, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it.” Luke 8:21 “If the iron is blunt, and one does not sharpen the edge, he must use more strength, but wisdom helps one to succeed.” Ecclesiastes 10:10 5. Character .
