Today she is the long-serving mayor of Pine Rivers Shire. She was also a former State Government minister and MLA for her district. MICHAEL DARBY, of Manly, NSW, is QCMs inaugural web master, and chaired QCM’s giant 1999 referendum launch and rally in Brisbane, which led to the defeat of the elitist republican push later that year. It was Mr. Darby who first urged monarchists in Brisbane to organise QCM as a fighting movement to defeat republican ambitions in Qld. As a consequence, this State led the nation and other States in rejecting republican schemes to dismantle the constitution. After his return from the war in the Pacific, he was elected president of the Victorian RSL, and national vice- president, and was a leading campaigner in the defeat of the republican referendum of 1999. He was a long-serving Senator for Queensland in the Federal Parliament, and has had a distinguished medical career. DON SISSON, CD, M.Pub.Adm., BAA(J), Dip 3., of Aspley, Qld is foundation general secretary and convener of QCM, and editor of Crown, the official journal of QCM. As a journalist, he has held sundry offices in capital city, metro and country newspapers as well as service with military, public service and political establishments.
