MAMBA
MAMBA soap – chemical cleaning of brass cases:
MAMBA soap ensures a good chemical cleaning of the brass by removing both oxidation as well
as the carbon residue inside the case. Use MAMBA soap to clean brass by hand in a plastic
container. Mix 1 part MAMBA with 4 parts water, therefore 20% MAMBA and 80% water. Use
enough to completely immerse the cases. Soak the cases for 20 – 30 minutes and then remove
the dirt outside by rubbing with your fingers or a suitable soft cloth or sponge. Brush the cases
properly on the inside, and then rinse the cases thoroughly in separate clean or running water.
Dry the cases outside with a soft cloth and if you have one, use compressed air to clean/dry the
inside. Leave the cases for 24 hours to ensure complete dryness before continuing the reloading
process.
Brass cases are a mixture of 70% copper end 30% zinc. When the oxidation is removed, some of
the cases might appear reddish from the copper. This is not a problem unless visible pit markings
can be seen. Cases with pitting or other surface damage or defects should not be reloaded.
The used cleaning medium can be left for enough time for all the residue to sink to the bottom.
The cleaning medium can then be poured off carefully until just the gunk remains. This can be
filtered if you want, otherwise it is discarded. This should enable you to use one mix for more than
200 cases.
Oxidation will start again soon after handling. This will be in the form of a very fine layer, and in
itself will prevent further oxidation. If tap water was used, it might deposit further deposits due to
the amount of chemicals like chlorine, fluoride and even iron in the water. This is neither
dangerous nor detrimental, but if it bothers you, the cases can be cleaned with polish not
containing ammonia. Ammonia will make the cases brittle, as it attacks the copper part of the
brass. The best is to use distilled water.
COMPLETELY DRAIN ALL MAMBA FROM ULTRASONIC CLEANER
IMMEDIATELY AFTER USE, RINSE CONTAINER WELL & DRY.
