Are you observant?
Here is a game to improve your students powers
of observation. Have students find a partner and
pick a picture in the newspaper. They should study
the picture for one minute and then cover the
picture. Then have them write down everything
they can remember about the picture. Which
student
could remember the most details?

of being published.
Explain what you do to
help the environment.
Why is it important to

3. Make sure entries are

Which animal do you
think is the cutest
animal in the world?
Why? Write a paragraph
to convince other
children of your opinion.
2. Follow directions for the
topic. Creativity is great,
but is the entry on topic?
4. Students’ name, school and
grade should be on each
entry.
5. Screen for appropriateness.
We try to avoid potentially
embarassing entries, but
sometimes it is not
obvious.
