Have students find example of each in the newspaper, cut them out and glue them onto the appropriate boxcar. _____________________________________________ Standards Link: Language Arts/Word Analysis: Identify antonyms, homonyms, synonyms, prefixes and suffixes. Are you observant? Here is a game to improve your students powers of observation. Have students find a partner and pick a picture in the newspaper. They should study the picture for one minute and then cover the picture. Then have them write down everything they can remember about the picture. Why is it important to you? 1. Keep length between 50 and 100 words. The Cutest Animal in the World 3. Make sure entries are legible. Deadline: March 20 Published: Week of Apr. 17 Which animal do you think is the cutest animal in the world? Why? Write a paragraph to convince other children of your opinion. 2. Follow directions for the topic. Creativity is great, but is the entry on topic? 4. Students’ name, school and grade should be on each entry. 5. Screen for appropriateness.
