Overview
1.1.
Introduction
Avision Image Editing Helper is a simple software to help you manage, edit and
enhance your scanned images. It provides the following features:

Copy and delete an image

Thumbnail pane to select images conveniently

Straighten a skewed images

Rotate your images 90 degrees right, 90 degrees left, or 180 degrees

Crop or cut a portion of your image

Convert color image to a gray or black and white image

Revert the colors of an image

Sharpen a blurred image or soften a sharp image

System Requirements
Following are the minimum software and hardware requirements to run Image
Editing Helper.

Microsoft Windows XP(SP3 or later), Windows Vista, Windows 7,
Windows 8

1.2 GHz CPU or greater

512 MB RAM for Windows XP (2+ GB RAM recommended)
1 GB RAM for Windows Vista and 7 (2+ GB RAM recommended)

Installing Image Editing Helper
Insert the SD card in to the SD card slot on your computer or USB SD card
reader. Open Drive #: AV_SCAN, then choose the folder of Software>Image
Editing Helper in succession, run [setup.exe] and follow the on-screen
instructions to complete the installation.
***If you do not have a SD card reader, you can insert the SD card in the
scanner, then connect the scanner to you computer, the scanner will act as
your SD card reader. Then follow the same setup instruction above.

Uninstalling Image Editing Helper
To uninstall Image Editing Helper, simply choose Start>All
Programs>Avision Image Editing Helper>Image Editing
Helper>Uninstall and follow the on-screen instructions to remove the
program.

Quick Tour
2.1
Starting and Exiting Image Editing Helper
Before you begin!
Make sure your scanner is connected to the computer with the SD card
inserted.
To start Image Editing Helper, choose Start>All Programs>Avision Image
Editing Helper>Image Editing Helper in succession. The following main
window will be displayed.
The scanned images in your SD card will be automatically
populated in the thumbnail pane.
To exit the main window of Image Editing Helper,
Choose Quit from the Button menu or click the Quit button (
right corner as indicated to leave the main window.

2.2
Opening Images
2.2.1
Opening an Image (Only JPEG and PDF files can be opened)
Image Editing Helper allows you to open an image by drag and drop the file to
the program.
To drag and drop an image file to Image Editing Helper,
1.
Open Windows Explorer by choosing Start>Accessories>Windows
Explorer in succession.
2.
Locate your file which you want to send to Image Editing Helper with
Windows Explorer.
3.
Drag and drop the file with your left-mouse button to the main window of
Image Editing Helper as illustrated.

The thumbnail view of the image will be displayed at the Thumbnail Pane
of the main window as shown.

Click the image and a large view of the image will be displayed at the
Image Display Area.
Note:
Only the JPEG and PDF file formats can be opened and viewed in the
Image Editing Helper.

2.2.2
Opening All Images in one Folder
To open all images in one folder,
1.
Click the Open button. A Browse for Folder dialog box will be
prompted.
2.
Choose the folder where your images reside and click the OK button to
complete.
3.
In a second, the thumbnail view of the images will be displayed at the
Thumbnail Pane of the main window.

The Image Editing Helper Button
The Image Editing Helper button provides the following quick accesses:

Open – Open a folder where your images reside.

Print – Open a Print dialog box to print an image.

Languages – The user interface is available for the following languages:
English, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Czech,
Russian, Malaysia, Chinese Traditional, and Chinese Simplified.

Quick Access Toolbar
The Quick Access Toolbar provides the following options:

Printer Setup – Adjust printer settings.

Preview Image – Preview your image before printing.

Print Image – Select your designated printer and print your image.

The Image Editing Helper desktop provides the following tabs:

Home – The Home tab contains the following frequently used tools:
Open a folder where you image resides. A Browse
dialog box will be prompted to allow you search your
folder.
Copy an image. The first duplication of an image will
be displayed with the same file name plus (1). The
second duplication will be displayed with the same
file name plus (2).
Copy an image to Clipboard.
Delete an image. A confirmation dialog box will be
displayed before the image is deleted.
Sort the thumbnail view of images by file name
(a~z), (z~a), or date and time by increment or
decrement.

Enlarge a portion of the image. Press and hold the left
mouse button inside an image to enlarge it. Drag the
tool across the image to magnify different areas of
the image.
Note: The default image display mode is Fit-to-page
and the enlargement rate is 100% of the original
size.
View your image at an enlarged size. Up to 400% of
the original size can be enlarged.
View your image at a reduced size when the [Zoom
in] function is applied.
Erase the changes done to the image and revert it to
its original state.
Sometimes an image is skewed when scanned. When
this occurs, you can use the tool to adjust it.
Click the Rotate tool to rotate the selected image 90
degrees to the left.
Click the button to rotate the selected image 90
degrees to the right.
Click the button to rotate the selected image by 180
degrees.
Reverse the right and left side of the image.

Turn the image upside down.
Use the Select Area tool to select part of an image
you want to keep and use the Crop tool to remove
the remainder.
Use the Cut tool to erase the
selected area.

Image Processing – The Image Processing tab allows you to enhance
your images by the following tools:
Erase the changes done to the image and revert it to
its original state.
Sometimes an image is skewed when scanned. When
this occurs, you can use the tool to adjust it.
Click the Rotate tool to rotate the selected image 90
degrees to the left.
Click the button to rotate the selected image 90
degrees to the right.
Click the button to rotate the selected image by 180
degrees.

The Image Display Area
The Image Display area is the main window for you to view your image in large
size and check the enhancement result.

The Image Thumbnail Pane
The Image Thumbnail Pane on the Image Editing Helper displays thumbnails
for images. Select an image, then click the Copy or Delete button on the
Desktop ribbon. The operation can be done quickly without having to open the
files.

The Status Bar
The Status bar indicates the location, image size, and date of the selected
image.

Editing Your Images
3.1.1
Copying Your Images
To copy a current image,
1.
Choose a current image which you want to make a copy from the Image
Thumbnail Pane.
2.
Click the Copy Image

Copying Your Images to a Clipboard
3.1.2
The feature allows you to copy a current image and paste directly to a software
application, such as Microsoft Word or other image editing software
application.
To copy your image to clipboard,
1.
Choose a current image which you want to copy to clipboard from the
Image Thumbnail Pane.
2.
Click the Copy Image to Clipboard
3.
Open your application. Add a new document and choose the Paste tool.

Deleting Your Images
To delete a current image,
1.
Choose a current image which you want to delete from the Image
Thumbnail Pane.
2.
Click the Delete Image

Viewing Your Images
3.2.1
Sorting Your Images in the Image Thumbnail Pane
To sort your images in the Image Thumbnail Pane,
Click the Sort
button. The images in the Image Thumbnail Pane will
be displayed according to order of the file name from A to Z.
Or
1.
For more options of the Sorting feature, click the Down Arrow of the
Sort button to prompt a pop-up menu.
2.
Choose your desired sorting sequence from a list of File Name
Increment A~Z, File Name Decrement Z~A, Date and Time
Increment, or Date and Time Decrement.
3.
The images in the Image Thumbnail Panel will be displayed accordingly.

3.2.2
Using the Magnifier Tool
To enlarge a portion of an image,
1.
Choose a current image which you want to view from the Image
Thumbnail Pane. The image will be displayed in the Image Display
Area.
2.
Click the Magnifier
button and your cursor will become a magnifier.
Place your cursor on the image where you wish to view more details of the
image.
3.
A rectangular box will appear to show the enlarged image. You can also
move the rectangular box to view other portions of the image.
Note:
The default image display mode is Fit-to-page and the enlargement rate is
100% of the original size.

Zooming in or Zooming out Your Images
3.2.3
Uses the [Zoom In] button to enlarge the image for a closer view. Up to 400
percent of its original size can be enlarged.
To view an enlarged image,
1.
Choose a current image which you want to enlarge from the Image
Thumbnail Pane. The image will be displayed in the Image Display
Area.
2.
Click the [Zoom in]
button. An enlarged view of the image will be
displayed.
3.
You may click the [Zoom in] button again if you wish to geta larger view.
Up to 400% of its original size can be enlarged.
4.
To return to the actual size, click the [Zoom Out]

Enhancing Your Images
Note:
While applying the following image enhancement tools, it is recommended to
make a copy of the original image first in case you may select other image and
then accidentally overwrite the original image file.
3.3.1
Straightening Your Images
Sometimes an image is skewed when scanned. When this occurs, you can use
the tool to adjust it.
To straighten an image,
1.
Choose a current image which you want to straighten from the Image
Thumbnail Pane. The image will be displayed in the Image Display Area.
2.
Click the Deskew

Place your cursor on theimage and set your desired angle. Align the green
button and your cursor will become a cross sign.

Rotating Your Images
If desired, you can rotate your page to 90 degrees clockwise, 90 degrees
counter clockwise, or 180 degrees.
To rotate your page,
1. Choose a current image which you want to rotate from the Image
Thumbnail Pane. The image will be displayed in the Image Display Area.
2. Click a Rotation button (

3. In a second, your image will be rotated accordingly.

Flipping Your Images
If desired, you can flip your image to reverse the right and left side of an image
or the top and bottom of an image.
To flip your image,
1.
Choose an image which you want to flip its orientation from the Image
Thumbnail Pane. The image will be displayed in the Image Display Area.
2.
Choose if you wish to flip your image horizontally or vertically from the Flip
Horizontal or Flip Vertical buttons (

Cutting or Cropping Your Image
Use the Select Area tool to select part of an image you want to keep and use
the Crop tool to remove the remainder.
Use the Cut tool to erase the selected
area.
To cut or crop a portion of your image,
1.
Choose an image which you want to cut or crop from the Image Thumbnail
Pane. The image will be displayed in the Image Display Area.
2.
Click the Select button (
) and place your cursor on the image.
Your cursor becomes an arrow.
3.
Drag your cursor to select an area to be cut or cropped. A rectangular box
will be displayed.
4.
Choose the Cut or Crop Tool to cut or crop your image.
5.
In a second, your image will be cut or cropped accordingly.

Converting a Color Image to a Monochrome Image
To convert your color image to a monochrome image,
1.
Choose an image which you want to convert from the Image
Thumbnail Pane. The image will be displayed in the Image Display
Area.

Inverting Your Image
Use the Invert tool to revert the colors of an image.

Softening Your Image
Select the Sharpen tool to adjust the sharpness of a blurry picture.
