Seatrace: Concentrated seawater marine element Item Code: F12 WHAT IS SEATRACE Seatrace is a dry powder containing the more interesting minerals elements contained in seawater because the sodium chloride has been removed. This ideal balance of minerals explain the cosmetic properties (enhances skin hydratation, reduces redness, remineralisation...) and the technological properties (don't break emulsions). The original seawater contains more than 90 elements of the Mendeleiev classification, including the entire range of the trace elements. All this elements are necessary for the human body and our well-being. The seawater is composed of 96,5% of water and 3,5% of this different minerals elements (Figure 1). Among this mineral contain, 85% is composed of sodium chloride and the other 15% are the very interesting minerals elements (Figure 2). The sodium chloride must be avoid in cosmetic application. This sodium chloride don't have the more interesting properties and is aggressive for the skin. This salt breaks down emulsions and causes a lot of stability problems. In the seatrace, most of the sodium chloride has been removed. We obtain the ideal balance of mineral salts with the more interesting minerals to be used in cosmetic (Figure 3). This powder is very concentrated because 80 times more than seawater. This process results in the concentration of minerals salts contained in seawater. A large part of sodium chloride is eliminated because it crystallizes, first, all the other elements when the seawater is concentrated. Finally, this saline solution is spray-dried. This outstanding richness has appealed to the thalassotherapy (“treating with the sea”) since the mineral elements can be assimilated by cutaneous tissues. It recharges the organism in trace elements in order to remineralize the skin. In thalassotherapy and balneotherapy treatments, the “salt coat” has to be kept as long as possible since seawater has a long, deep and lasting activity, even more effective after the application. Mineral composition Figure 4 : seawater, blood plasma and seatrace composition Magnesium More than 15% of the composition. It is in the form of Magnesium chloride. Magnesium is very well known to have anti-inflammatory effect on the skin. This magnesium explains the abilities of seawater concentrated in magnesium to reduce the redness of the skin. Sodium Chloride sodium in small quantity of seawater has interesting properties. Indeed, it is a component of the NMF (Natural Moisturizing Factor) necessary for the cutaneous hydration. Sodium also regulates skin’s pH. Potassium This element plays an important role in the intercellular exchange and for this reason in hydration. Calcium Prevents skin-ageing. Zinc Stimulates sebaceous gland and prevents production of enzyme inducing inflammation. Copper Supplements enzymes synthesizing elastin and collagen fibers, increases skin elasticity. How to use it ? This seatrace can be used in spa products like a root of the thalassotherapy treatments. It can be used also in skin care products like an active ingredient. • Emulsions, shampoos, shower gels (1 to 5%) • Body wraps and masks (5 to 30%) • Baths in thalassotherapy treatment (20 to 50%) • Hair care treatment FOCUS ON HAIR CARE Seatrace is the perfect ingredient for « beach waves » effect products. Seatrace gives volume and texture to the hair.
