Juliette Colbert apartment
!
Dedicated to JULIETTE COLBERT - In 1807, Juliette Colbert of Maulévrier, grandchild of the finance
minister of the Roi Soleil, married the Marquese of Barolo, Carlo Trancredi Falletti. Juliette realized
immediately the great potential of Barolo wine made in the cellars of the Marquis in the homonymous
country. The legend tells about the request of King Carlo Alberto of being able to taste such a wine,
Juliette responded a few days later by sending 325 wagons of Barolo to the Royal Palace, one for each
day of the year, excluding the Lent.
The decor and furnishing evoke the first half of the Nineteenth Century French style through the use of
green colour, with ceilings and walls decorated with stucco and frames, French marble fireplace,
embroidered fabrics in different light blue-green shades, antique gilded mirrors, walnut furniture with
ivory French-polishing. Antique oil paintings and French wallpapers with floral, landscape patterns.
