Bill Clark, Secretary On this day in History. Feb 9 Feb 9, 1846 Wilhelm Maybach was born. Maybach was a German engineer who worked with Daimler to build internal combustion engines. The first Mercedes, built in 1902, had a Maybach engine. In the forties, the company he founded made engines for Tiger tanks. In 2002, Daimler Chrysler named a line of its luxury cars after Maybach. I often confuse Wilhelm Maybach with William Maybury, but they are two different people. In the summer of 1898 Henry Ford was given his first patent. It described a carburetor. The patent was assigned to one of his earliest and most supportive investors, the mayor of Detroit, William Maybury. The Maybury family came from Cork County Ireland on the same Iroquois Region, AACA, Inc. William D. Clark, Editor 1795 N Cafferty Hill Road Endicott, NY 13760 boat as Ford’s father.
