CINEMA NOTES
AT A GLANCE
There is drama, comedy, horror, documentary and animation in the
latest Triskel Christchurch cinema programme which features a wide
range of films from around the world, including Chile, Egypt, Finland,
United States, France and China.
Sun 14 May - Wed 17 May
Neruda
I Am Not Your Negro
Having screened No, The Club and Jackie, we present Neruda,
the latest film from director Pablo Larrain. I Am Not Your Negro is
the acclaimed documentary based on an unfinished novel by writer
James Baldwin and is one of the must-see films of 2017. We have
not one but two films from Finland with the charming The Happiest
Day in the Life of Olli Mäki and the new film from Aki Kaurismäki
The Other Side of Hope. Film Journal International calls the Chinese
Kafkaesque comedy I Am Not Madame Bovary “Original, demanding
and disarmingly rewarding”. The Red Turtle is the wonderful animated
tale which needs to be seen on the big screen.

To earn an F-rating, a movie has to answer yes to one of these
three questions: does it have a female director, does it have a
female writer, or are there significant female characters on screen
in their own right? Triskel Arts Centre has voluntarily incorporated
this rating. For more information on F-Rating visit this website:

Triskel Arts Centre is proud to announce its
association with The F-Rating initiative. Developed
in the Bath Film Festival in 2014, the F-Rating is
a new film rating which will highlight those with a
strong female voice.
Films marked “NC” (Not Certified) have not been classified by the
Irish Film Classification Office. They require a Triskel Christchurch
Cinema Membership, which may be purchased on a per film basis
(50c per person) or on an annual basis.
