Bancroft’s School e-Bulletin Monday 7 November 2016 News It has been a busy half term break for many Bancroftians and staff. Twenty seven U6 pupils successfully completed their Gold DofE expeditions in Snowdonia in relatively good weather conditions. Sixty pupils spent a busy week in New York and Washington on the History and Drama tour. Members of the U4 who are studying Spanish for GCSE enjoyed a week in San Sebastian with their exchange partners, while A Level French students were in Biarritz. The L4 rugby team enjoyed a mini tour to Edinburgh. Congratulations to Amala Sangha (RW) who has been named as one of the ten individual winners in the Guardian’s Young Critics Competition 2016. She has been invited to attend the competition ceremony at The Guardian’s London headquarters, when children's author S F Said will announce the winners. Gilman and Soame have sent us a reminder about the portrait photographs of Thirds, L4 and L6 pupils taken at the start of term. If you would like photographs before Christmas, please order as soon as possible. If you have lost your child’s details, as shown on the proof cards, please contact Gilman and Soame directly at [email protected] or on 01869 328200 quoting the security password photo752et and they will be able to give you details. After the mild weather we experienced before half term, it seems that winter has now arrived. May we, therefore, remind you that we expect pupils to be properly dressed for PE and games lessons? They should have their school hoodies for all PE lessons, including swimming, and should wear layers for games lessons. If you wish to purchase Bancroft’s branded base layers, these are available from Schoolblazer (www.schoolblazer.com). Calendar and Forthcoming Events Please note all information is correct at time of publication. Cancellations and changes do occur to sports fixtures and other events on the co-curricular programme, when these happen we try to communicate such changes to pupils and parents in good time. 1 Sunday 13 November is Remembrance Sunday and members of our CCF, as well as Cubs and Sea Scouts, will be taking part in the events at School. Detailed information about the arrangements for the CCF for the morning can be found in http://learn.bancrofts.org/ccf/letters-to-parents20162017 (“Remembrance Day 2016”).
