At the Y, we know that one size doesn’t fit
all. That goes for memberships and programs
too. To help meet the varying needs of our
members and the community, we offer three
pricing options for programs at each of our
12 branches.
YMCA MEMBER FEE: Joining the Y is the
best option for your family and these
fees indicate a special discount off of the
participant rate of 20% or more. In addition,
YMCA Members have full access to the Y
branch that you join (fitness, aquatics and
more). Our YMCA Members receive special
advance priority registration for camp and
other programs! As a YMCA Member, you can
participate in any YMCA program throughout
the county at the special member rate!
YOUTH PROGRAM MEMBER FEE: All kids
deserve the opportunity to discover who
they are and what they can achieve at the
Y. Youth Program Members pay an annual
registration fee and receive 10-20% off
of the participant rate, depending on the
program. Youth Program Members do not
receive advance priority registration for
camp and Youth Program Membership is
non-transferrable to other YMCA branches.
PARTICIPANT FEE: All are welcome at
our Y; you don’t have to be a member to
participate. Sign up for one or all of our
programs as many times as you like. YMCA
participants do not receive advance priority
registration for camp.
With the Y, you can be assured that whatever
activity your family or child engages
in—from child care to family swim to
sports camp—you’ll have a safe, positive
environment to play, learn and grow.

QUESTIONS
Will I be billed for the remaining
balance of camp automatically?
You will receive a balance due
reminder via email. No bills will be

Campers who do not register at least

for the camp in full at the time of
registration.
When is the balance due for
a camp?
The remaining balance for each

What if I am late picking up my
child from camp?
Children not picked up at the end of
the camp day at any of our sites will
be placed in our Late Parent Program.
A $15 late fee will be charged for any
of the first 15 minutes after the end
of camp. An additional $1 per minute
fee will be charged after the first 15
minutes. For example, camp pick-up
ends at 3:45 pm, and a child is picked
up at 4:10 pm. There would be a
$25 charge.
Important Camp Information
What if my child is a few months
too young to attend camp?
Where can I view my child’s camp
schedule?
Camps are organized by grades versus
ages. All campers must be entering
the grade in the fall as listed for each
camp. Regardless of grades, due to
risk management guidelines all skate
campers must be at least six years old
on the first day of camp to attend.
Laser Tag campers must be seven
years old on the first day of camp. In
addition, children attending any camp
that travels (denoted by bus icon)
must be at least six years of age.
The daily schedule is available
electronically through our camp
website beginning June1. Please visit
www.ecke.ymca.org. You will be
able to see an hour-to-hour schedule
of each camp’s activities throughout
the summer! Once on the site, click
on the camp you are interested in,
then click on “Weekly Calendar” in the
upper right hand corner. Those who
do not have internet access may call
our registration line and request for a
schedule to be mailed to your home.
How do I ensure my camper is in
the same group as his/her friend?
Camp is designed for participants to
develop new friendships with their
peers and we encourage parents to
support this goal. However, if you still
need to ensure campers are within
the same group, you may provide a
written note for the Unit Leader of
your camp on the first day. Camp
staff will attempt to ensure your
campers can be within the same
groups, but groupings depend on
ability and/or age and therefore these
accommodations will not always be
possible.
How do I provide my camper with
permission to walk?
Participants who walk from the main
facility, satellite facilities or bus pickup/drop off locations must be at least
12 years of age and have a signed
Permission to Walk slip turned into
the YMCA. This slip will be kept on file
through the summer. The slip must
be on file or your child will not be
released and you will be called to pick
him/her up from camp.
Where do I find
Camp’s Lost and
Found?
The best way to
prevent the loss of
personal property is
to label all of your
children’s belongings.
Our camp Lost and
Found items are held
for the week of camp
by the camp’s Unit
Leader. Once that
camp is complete, all
lost and found items
are turned into the
designated spot for
each main location.
Lost and found
items are donated to
charity throughout
the summer so please check lost and
found immediately. The YMCA is not
responsible for camper possessions
that are lost or stolen. Please do
not send valuable items or money to
camp with your child.
My Child says there is a parent
show. What is that?
The YMCA wants to share your child’s
camp experience with you. Many of
our camps do have an optional parent
show at the end of the week that
invites parents and friends to come
see what the campers have been up to
all week. The YMCA understands that
parents might not be able to attend at
the designated time and encourages
you to contact the Unit Leader to set
up an alternative time to visit.
Still have more questions? That’s OK! Check out our Parent’s Survival Guide & Frequently Asked
Questions Section on our website at www.ecke.ymca.org or contact the Camp Department.

A TIME TO LEAD!
LEADERS IN TRAINING (L.I.T.)
Within this program, teens learn leadership, group management skills, child development basics, and policies
and procedures in relation to working with youth. Interacting with campers and representing the Y requires
a certain level of maturity. For this reason, the Fieldwork program is selective. Upon completion of the L.I.T.
Training Course, teens will be invited to participate in the fieldwork program. L.I.T.s will be required to follow
the Y camp staff dress code: solid, non-denim pants or shorts; unaltered Y L.I.T. t-shirt; tennis shoes. Female
L.I.T.s will be required to wear one-piece bathing suits when applicable. Dress code and behavior expectations
will be detailed during the training course. The program is designed so campers enroll in at least one session of
fieldwork upon completion of the training course.
For the safety of our campers and L.I.T.s, returning L.I.T.s must still enroll in an L.I.T. Training Course in order to
be eligible for fieldwork. L.I.T.s may also receive a letter demonstrating their 35 hours of community service for
each week of fieldwork that they complete.

Want to become a camp counselor? This summer
program is both fun and challenging and you will
gain leadership skills while working with children.
Our L.I.T. program focuses on the personal and
vocational skills that will assist you in becoming
successful future camp leaders. This one-week
training session includes topics such as child
development, camp leadership, group games,
supervision, planning and administration, public
speaking and presentations, interviewing skills,
First Aid, CPR certification and a variety of other
cool stuff related to working in the field of youth
development!
The Fieldwork program is an opportunity for
L.I.T.s to use their leadership skills in the field of
camp and enjoy the rewards of working with the
Y’s incredible staff team. L.I.T.s will experience
various camp programs, assist in the daily
operations of camp and receive valuable onthe-job experience that will help build a strong
foundation for either a recreational or childcare
career. Specific camp placements depend on
L.I.T. skill sets and camp availability.
REGISTRATION: Campers may register for L.I.T.
Fieldwork prior to their completion of the
training course. However, if they do not pass
the training course, they will receive a refund.

Caravan Camps
CARAVAN INFORMATION
What is a “rally?”
Every year the Magdalena Ecke
Family Y provides a variety of
resident camps and caravans during
the summer months. These weeklong adventures allow campers the
opportunity to develop friendships
and challenge themselves to try new
things while having the time of their
lives. Caravans are a great week long
experience that your campers will
never forget!
In order to be properly prepared
for these adventures, there is a
mandatory pre-trip rally before each
caravan or resident camp. These
rallies take place in the Y Multi Use
Room at 6:00 pm and typically occur
the week before the trip. The meetings
last approximately 30-45 minutes
and serve as an opportunity to go
over expectations, turn in important
paperwork and answer parent and
participant questions. A detailed trip
agenda is also handed out during
these meetings. A representative
from the camper’s family must attend
these meetings.
Our caravan and resident camps are
certified by the American Camping
Association (ACA).
What is the difference between a
resident camp and a caravan?
A resident camp is more like a
“traditional” overnight camp. Campers
and staff travel to one location
where they stay for the whole week,
participating in a variety of activities
during the day, enjoying bonfires in
the evening and sleeping in cabins at
night. Camp Fox is currently the only
resident camp that we travel to with
our groups.
A caravan tends to be more like a
camping trip. While campers and staff
do have a base camp, they travel to
more than one location throughout
the week.
EARLY BIRD PRICES SHOWN
An additional $25 will be applied
to all registrations the Tuesday
before the camp begins.
How important are the rallies?
Attendance is mandatory! There
must be at least one parent/guardian
present as well as the participant.
This is a great opportunity for you
to meet the other participants of the
trip and to address any questions or
concerns you may have with Y staff.
May I share a cabin with
my friends?
For most of the trips that we offer,
rooming situations can be arranged
as long as we know well in advance.
We’ll do our best, but we cannot
always accommodate everyone’s
requests. Remember, camp is a great
opportunity to make new friends as
well as strengthen old bonds.
Who will be leading these caravan
and resident camp trips?
Y directors, full-time staff, camp
leaders and dedicated volunteers
make up our leadership team for our
caravan and resident camps. Each
leader has been trained specifically
for caravans and meets all American
Camp Association (ACA) standards.
Every driver must submit to a
background check, drug and alcohol
testing, a minimum of 20 hours of
behind-the-wheel training, a minimum
of 10 hours of classroom instruction
plus additional required First Aid and
CPR training.
