2016 -2017 Dress Code Policy
A positive relationship exists between a student’s actions, accomplishments and in the way he/she
dresses. The appearance of any young person is the responsibility of the individual and his/her
parents. We expect students to maintain the type of appearance that is not a distraction to teachers
or other students. These distractions are detrimental to the educational process. UNIFORMS are
included in the dress code. The standard uniform for our school is as follows:
Tops: Only Stambaugh Middle School or plain solid appropriate colored T-shirts are permitted





T-Shirts, Stambaugh or solid plain, must be either Royal Blue or Yellow gold for 7th & 8th Graders
T-Shirts, Stambaugh or solid plain, must be NAVY Blue for 6th Graders
Stambaugh T-Shirts may be purchased through the school office
Stambaugh Club Shirts (current members only) may be worn on FRIDAYS ONLY
Team shirts/uniforms may be worn on game days as permitted by their coach and
administration
 Under shirts (if visible) must be solid White, Royal Blue or Yellow gold.
 Shirts MUST be tucked in at all times.
 Shirts must be long enough to tuck in and remain that way.
Bottoms: Khaki







Khakis must cotton material and be tan in color
Cargo, Carpenter, and Jogger style bottoms are permitted
Plain shorts, pants, capris, skorts, or skirts may be worn (No Large Logo’s or designs)
All bottoms MUST be hemmed. (Not Frayed)
All bottoms must be of the appropriate size and worn on the waist at all times.
Under garments are NEVER to be visible (No Sagging)
NO overalls, nylon, leather, sweat pants, or jumpers are allowed
Jackets and Coats:
 All jackets and coats must have zip, snap or button up front
 Any pullover sweatshirt must be Stambaugh purchased or a plain solid color.
 Hoodies are permissible, but hoods are NEVER allowed to be worn during school hours (9:004:00pm)
Footwear:
 Shoes must have a closed toe, secured properly (laced up/Velcro/etc.), a rubber sole, a strap
 Crocs are permissible as long as strap is worn in back
Other Dress Code Rules:
 Students are not allowed to wear clothing, jewelry, (including body piercings), buttons, haircuts,
hair colors, tattoos, or other attire or markings which are offensive, suggestive, disruptive or
indecent
 No unnatural hair color or dye
 No flannel, button down or similar shirt/garment may be worn as a jacket
 No hats, hoods, visors, bandanas, sweatbands, stocking caps, or other head coverings are to be
worn (either on their head or hanging from a pocket, belt loop, book bag, etc.)
 No hair combs or picks are to be worn in the hair
 No Flip flops, slides or slippers are to be worn
 No fraying, holes, or tears will be allowed in any clothing
 Any clothing that depicts drugs, alcohol, tobacco, profanity, obscenity, vulgarity, weapons or
violence are not allowed
 Any clothing associated with gangs is not permissible
All Stambaugh Middle School students are required to dress in accordance with the above dress code
guidelines whenever they are on the Stambaugh campus or representing the school in alternate
locations. Stambaugh uniform shirts may be purchased in the guidance office during normal school
hours. Solid plain uniform shirts may be purchased at various stores including Wal-Mart, Target, and
Bealls.
*Administration reserves the right to request a change of clothing for inappropriate dress or to
recommend changes on anything deemed distracting to the learning process.
