20,793 Students in 648 Schools Helped Statewide
Last year was a great year for InvestED. I am delighted to report that we helped
1764 more students in Washington state get to school, stay in school and graduate
from school than in the prior year. Thanks to you and our partnership with the
Seattle Seahawks our program support increased by 26.7%. On behalf of the staff
and board of InvestED, I want to wish you a happpy and productive 2016!
From Forks Washington to Harvard College
RACHEL’S STORY:
- Deborah Cushing, Executive Director
Rachel Horner was a senior in Forks
High School where half of the students
qualify for free or reduced lunch. She
was one of those students. When her
teacher encouraged her to apply to
Harvard College during her senior year,
the additional test fee proved a financial
burden. The fee was paid through the
school’s InvestED Program, ensuring
that Rachel had the opportunity to
attend one of the best schools in the
nation.

THANK YOU
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
Our partnership with the Seattle
Seahawks through the Washington
State Legislature’s approval of the special
license plate is hugely successful. $28
from each license plate sale or renewal
goes to InvestED. Cash received by June
30 from the sale of the special plates
allowed InvestED to bring wait listed
schools into the program and provided
additional program support to partner
schools in September. You can purchase
a special license plate, and help students
in need by going to dol.wa.gov/vehicleregistration/spseahawks.html
