They participated in a round robin competition between other winning districts which meant they played three games in total. Our first game was against Dallas Brooks PS and the final scores in this game were 21 to 6, Westmeadows’ favour. Everyone played a fantastic game and the win left the team in a buoyant mood. For the second game we played against Willmott Park PS. They were a well structured, organised team who had fantastic shooters who never seemed to miss. We tried valiantly throughout the whole game but they were just too good, pipping us at the post. Final scores were 15 to 10, Willmott Park’s favour. Westmeadows went into the last round determined to perform well and end their day on a high note. This is exactly how they went about their game against St. Anne’s which they went on to win 24 to 17. All members in that game played exceptionally well. We then had an anxious wait to discover the final placings for the day, as three teams had won two games each. This meant the results were decided on the percentage of each team’s goals scored, those for and against, just like the footy ladders. Unfortunately, this meant that we ended up being in third place. Dallas Brooks PS finished fourth, St. Anne’s were second placed and Willmott Park were the victors on the day. Everybody in the Westmeadows PS squad played extremely well and more importantly, displayed good sportsmanship. Thank-you to all the wonderful support from the parents who drove to Sunbury to support our team and transport players to the venue and a huge thank-you to one of our parents ,Lisa Shennan, for stepping in to umpire at that level. THANK YOU A fantastic response from our school community in raising a RECORD TOTAL from the recent CAKE STALL—$1747.00 WOW!! This great financial assistance lessens the cost of the Grade 6 Surf Excursion to Ocean Grove later in Term 4. This CAKE STALL is a “traditional happening” at Westmeadows Primary and when students reach their final year Grade 6, their parents reap the benefits of such financial help. Congratulations to ALL involved, students, teachers, parents, grandparents and other community members.
