Spirent Communications Nomad Quick Start Guide
1. Install the Software

Run the Nomad installation package provided by your Metrico
Wireless representative on the computer to be used with the
Nomad system.
2. Install the Hardware

Plug in the AC Adapter and connect to the +12V port on the
Spirent Mobile Equipment
Connect the GPS receiver to the GPS port
Connect the USB laptop cable to the PC port on the Spirent
ME unit
With the laptop turned on, connect the other end of the USB
laptop cable to the USB port on the laptop – take care to always
connect the hardware unit to the same port



3. Specify Nomad Settings

In the Nomad software, select the Settings tab to specify:
o
General settings
o
GPS/Time settings
o
Call Performance test settings
o
Voice Quality test settings
o
Email Campaign settings
4. Define a Test


Define a test from the Test Setup tab.
Drag and drop any Voice Quality, Call Performance or Delay
task onto an available Test Channel.
Modify the applicable Task Settings for each task.
Run the Auto Level Assist Wizard to optimize volume settings
for Voice Quality tasks connected via analog audio interface.
Save global test settings using the Save Session Profile button.



5. Run the Test


Click the Start Logging Session button on the Test Setup tab.
Follow the steps in the Start Logging Session Wizard:
o
Review the current channel configuration
o
Confirm Bluetooth device setup if applicable
o
Place calls on mobile handsets for Voice Quality Tasks
connected via analog audio interface (Bluetooth calls will
start automatically).
o
Select the log file storage location.
o
Time sync and logging will begin automatically.
6. Stop the Test


Use the Stop button to terminate data collection.
A test set to end after a specific number of cycles or calls will
stop automatically at the end of a test sequence.
The Data tab will appear for report generation and additional
analysis.

7. Analyze the Results


Select one or more files from the Data → Complete tab and
then click Generate Report From Selected.
From the Data → Reports tab, choose whether to view the
formatted Excel file or to display the KML data geographically in
Google EarthTM.
