Thomas Healy was born and died in County Mayo, Ireland. According to the family history written by his
grandson, Patrick Healy in 1936, Thomas was born in 1790 and died in Derryfadda in 1864 of old age.
According to Patrick, Thomas was well educated and could speak and write Latin, Greek, English and
Gaelic. He married Mary O'Boyle and they settled in Collarua, south of Crossmolina in the townland of
Derryfadda. She died of typhoid fever in 1845. All of their children but one, Mary, left Ireland to settle in
America. We have not been able to verify any of this information and know nothing of Mary O'Boyle's
family.

Patrick Healy and Mary Hope and their four children, Patrick 9, Thomas, 6, Bridget, 4, and Mary, 2, left
Collarua, Co. Mayo, Ireland, for America in 1866. They boarded the S.S. England in Queenstown on
the evening of March 29 bound for New York City. A cholera epidemic broke out while en route and the
ship was diverted to McNabs Island, near Halifax, in Canada. Mary, the youngest, died and was buried
at sea. Passengers were quarantined on McNabs Island until May, when they were cleared for entry
into New York. From there, the family travelled by train to Minnesota where other family members had
settled. The family eventually settled in Faribault and later moved to Saint Paul.

According to the Pettibone Centennial book, in 1912 John was a retail clerk in Page,
North Dakota. In 1913 he moved to Dawson (North? South? Dakota) where he
clerked in the C.P. Peterson store until 1916. In 1916, Peterson opened a store in
Tappen and John became the manager there. In 1918 he went into business for
himself at Tappen in the former bank building. He operated this [grocery?] store until
1921 when he sold out and went to California in the fall. In California he operated a
grocery store in Long Beach until 1927. In 1927 he returned to S.D. when the
Koehler Stores of Tappen and Driscoll bought out C.C. Morrison's store in Pettibone.
John became the manager. In 1935 he took over the store on his own. He died
suddenly in April, 1944. Nellie Koehler went to California sometime after his death.

James Henry Healy, the second of his family to be born in America, was born in Faribault, Minn. He
eventually moved to Saint Paul as did many other family members. As a partner in the Healy Plumbing
and Heating Co. he was in Cheyenne, Wyoming, installing the plumbing and heating for Fort Russell,
an Army post, when he met Lucy Miller. Jim and his brother, Ed, rented rooms in the Miller's home in
Cheyenne. Jim and Lucy fell in love and were married in January, 1909, in Cheyenne. They eventually
settled on White Bear Lake in Mahtomedi, outside Saint Paul, and had five children. After several of
their children settled in California, Jim and Lucy moved to San Diego.

"The following is from the obit of my grandfather which fills in some of his
information for you: He died on November 12, 1959 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
'HEALY FUNERAL PLANS AWAIT ARRIVAL OF SONS: Services for Dr. Cornelius
Edward Healy, who died Thursday at his home, 1615 Birchwood Ave., College
Hill, are being completed by the Dhonau-Rosenacker funeral home, Monfort
Heights.
Dr. Healy, who was 60 years old, taught at the medical college of Loyola
University, Chicago, after his graduation in 1929 from the University of
Illinois.
He later headed the Chicago Health Clinic and was a member of the city's
Board of Health. In 1951 he became head medical examiner for the Baltimore
& Ohio Railroad here.
He was a member of Cincinnati Elks, Lodge 5, the Cincinnati Academy of
Medicine, Ohio and American Medical Associations and and the Northside
Council and St. Isaac Jogues General Assembly of the Knights of Columbus.
Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Florence Costigan Healy, three songs,
Cornelius Healy Jr. Cincinnati, Capt. James D. Healy, M.D., with the Air

brothers, Raymond J. Healy, Deer Beach, Fla., and Francis V. Healy,

Requiem High Mass will be sung at St. Clare Church, Collge Hill, the time
and day depending upon the arrival of Dr. Healy's servicemen sons. Burial

was never the same after that. Margaret's parents took the baby, Margaret Ann, and raised her. Mayme
took Boots and raised him. Clarence later remarried but it ended in divorce.
