are proud of our students’ and
teachers’ hard work this year and
know that they will show what
they know on ISTEP. Please
make sure your child is present
for every day of ISTEP testing,
and arrives at school on time.
Testing starts at 8:45 a.m.
SPRING BOOK FAIR
John Strange will have a book fair
April 27-29, 2015. The fair will be
open during the school day and
the evening of Fine Arts Night

DANCING WITH THE SPECIALS
We are proud to announce that
our students earned a PBS
celebration day by having 96% of
our students comply with John
Strange procedures and avoid
receiving a discipline referral.
Our students enjoyed “Dancing
with the Specials”, a special
dance party in the gym featuring
music that elicits screams of
delight and allows our students to
showcase their best dance
moves.

THANK YOU to the many staff,

participated in the Great North Run
It was another record year for
participation, and we were a big
part of what made it happen! In
addition to winning the spirit award
for the highest percent of
participation, we also had the most
registrations for the race from JS
earning us $1,188.00!
We had a great time starting each
race with Dr. Woodson and being
presented the participation trophy
before the first race. We definitely
showed why we won the school
spirit award for the race on race
day!

To finish the How We Organize
Ourselves IB Unit, Kindergarten
classes held their own career fair in
each classroom. The students made
posters to show the class his/her
desired career and explained the
tools they would need, what the job
entailed and why they chose that
job.
SPRING CARNIVAL
Please join us on Friday, April 15th, from 5:30-8:00 p.m. for the Spring Carnival.

Tickets can be purchased in advance, through April14 . Cost is $10 for 25
tickets and $20 for 50 tickets. (Price will be higher at the carnival.) Checks
should be made payable to JS-PTO and the tickets can be picked up at the
ticket booth at the carnival.

MEET THE NEW CHICKS IN TOWN
The kindergarten classes at John
Strange have
a
very
important
announcement to make! We patiently
waited and watched our chicken eggs in
an incubator for 21 days and became the
proud and excited parents of baby chicks!
We studied the life-cycle of a chicken, did
eggsperiments, and observed our chicks
grow and change for one week! A BIG
thanks to the Advancement Center for the
grant that made it all possible!
