Location: Corner of Spring and East Bayard Streets in front of the new
Generations Bank Headquarters
The figures are from L to R in this order: Max Eastman 1883 – 1969, James Mott 1788 – 1868,
Frederick Douglass 1818 -1895
Three figures support the timeline of the struggle for women's suffrage in
the United States, Frederick Douglass, former slave, abolitionist and
supporter of women's suffrage, James Mott, husband of Lucretia Mott
and chair of the 1848 convention, and Max Eastman, born in
Canandaigua, political activist in support of women's suffrage in the
early 1900's. The name "Passage" represents both the long journey and
the eventual passage of the 19th Amendment.
