English
This half term, we will be using the historical account
of ‘Titanic’ in order to generate different forms of
writing such as diary, narrative and explanation. The
children will be writing sentences of varying length,
looking at using vocabulary to create description to
engage the reader.

This half term we will be continuing our class novels
from last half term.
This half term we will be experiencing a hook day to
introduce our English topic ‘Titanic’.

Mathematics
As responsible citizens, we will be looking at mutual
respect.
As mathematicians we will be exploring algebra and
we will also be looking at ration and proportion.
Important Information
Science
As Scientists we will be looking at electricity and
circuit making.
Geography
As Geographers we will be looking at which countries
were involved in WW1.
History
As Historians we will be continuing to look at the
events leading up to WW1. We shall be exploring
what life was like in Britain during this time as well as
what life was like in the trenches. We will be exploring
how the end of WW1 led to WW2.
PE Kits – please bring the PE kits in on Monday and
take home on Friday. The day for outdoor games has
changed in Year 6 and therefore the children need
their kit in all week.
Homework is set on Friday and due in on Thursday.
This is a change to the usual hand in date to
accommodate those children attending homework
club. The children will be given homework revision
books for maths and GPS and will also be set
Mathletics homework. Children must also read at
least 3 times a week, learn their spellings and their
multiplication tables.
Computing
As Information Technologists we will be working with
‘Junior Jam’ to create a variety of exciting projects
using iPads.
In French we will be looking at family members.
PSHCE
We will be looking at money matters and the
importance of living within our means and managing
budgets.
Reading
The children will be continuing with the Doncaster
Book award scheme.
PE
In PE the children will need a plain white T shirt and
black shorts. They will also need trainers to complete
outdoor PE. Children will be expected to wear spare
kit if they forget their PE kit.
Important information
There will be letters coming out shortly for Year 6
homework club and for SAT booster lessons.
