FALL 2016 After-School Enrichment Programs

Tuckahoe PTA and Baroody Camps
Presents:
FALL 2016 After-School Enrichment
Programs
Welcome all new and returning Sliders to another fun year at Tuckahoe ES! This year, the PTA has partnered with
Baroody Camps, Inc. (www.baroodycamps.com) to provide a wide variety of before and after school enrichment
classes for students across all grade levels. In Northern Virginia, Baroody Camps has been providing summer camps
since 2003 and after-school enrichment classes since 2014 and this is their first year at Tuckahoe. The range and
variety of classes offered will remain the same, however, what's new this year is we will have a dedicated on-site
Enrichment Coordinator, who will oversee all enrichment activities at school every day. This will provide the muchneeded oversight to our otherwise well-rounded enrichment program.
Please read the following pages of the catalog carefully for important dates, policies and procedures, & program
descriptions. Additional copies of the registration catalog can be found at http://baroodycamps.com/after-school/.
Please contact Beth Foreman (Baroody Camps) [email protected] with questions or concerns.

Dismissal
It is imperative that you indicate the dismissal arrangements for your child on the registration form. Please note that it is
not permissible to be late for pick-up. If you are late more than two times, your child will no longer be able to participate
in the program. Please be aware that school personnel will not be available at this time to supervise your child.
• Parent Pick-Up: Parents/caregivers must pick up children promptly. All After-School Enrichment Programs
participants will be dismissed outside of the main entrance of the school. Parents/caregivers must sign their child out
with their program instructor.
• Extended Day Care: Students attending Extended Day Care after school will be escorted to the appropriate
locations following the class.
• Note: The LEGO program ends at 5:15pm.
Changes to dismissal: The On-Site Programs Coordinator will provide each Tuckahoe teacher and each before and afterschool programs Instructor with a list of children participating in the various after-school programs along with their
dismissal instructions. You are responsible for notifying the Director of Operations (Beth Foreman) of any changes to
your child’s regular dismissal process from his/her after-school program.
On-Site Programs Coordinator
To help manage children participating in the before and after-school programs, Baroody Camps will provide an On-Site
Programs Coordinator. S/he is responsible for distributing & collecting attendance sheets, assisting program staff with
behavior issues, assisting with dismissal, resolving any issues that may arise and quality control during programs.
Additionally, the On-Site Coordinator is Medication Administration Trained & CPR/First Aid Certified.
Standards of Behavior
We want to ensure that all students participating in the after-school enrichment programs enjoy the experience. In order
for this to happen, it is expected that all students will conform to regular Tuckahoe classroom and school rules and
regulations while attending a program. The providers are all experienced Instructors and will use accepted classroom
management techniques to allow misbehaving children to adjust. If a child continues to have difficulties, he or she will
be removed from the class and be placed with the On-Site Programs Coordinator who will decide if and when to return
the child to class that day. The On-Site Programs Coordinator will also inform the parents about the situation.
If a child is removed from a class a second time, that child will be withdrawn from that class for the remainder of the
session. The School will be informed of this decision. No partial refunds will be given in these situations. We look to
all parents to support our class providers so that all children can enjoy the after-school classes.
Snacks/Allergies
At this time, snacks are not permitted during before or after-school programs.
If your child has an allergy and/or asthma, serious or not, an Allergy/Asthma Waiver must be completed before the start
of programs. *Note: After-School Enrichment Programs do not have access to the health office, however, our On-Site
