LOAH 11.2 I finally stopped soaring through the air when my back hit

LOAH 11.2
I finally stopped soaring through the air when my back hit a tree and I slid down. I heard an ‘umf’ around
me. I wanted to call for Mike and Ciel, see if they’re alright but I couldn’t, starting to cough dirt out of
my mouth, I felt a pain on my left side and arm.
“Are you guys alright?” Ciel asked rushing over to me.
“Where’s Mike?” I asked getting up and clutching my side. My hand came away red and filled with dirt
and plastic. Looking around my surroundings we were in a park, or a forest either way there were trees
surrounding us along with bushes and flowers, the noise of animals and bugs filled the air, some could
be seen in the trees watching us.
“I don’t know,” Ciel replied before putting her hands around her mouth and calling his name so loud
that birds flew out of the threes. We couldn’t split up to look for Mike because she didn’t have a tracking
device for Ciel, so finding Mike took much longer. With David’s help we did though, it was around noon
when we did too, he was lying unconscious beside a river bank.
Looking up I could see the damage he did to the trees, branches hug broken or around him leaves torn,
or burnt, birds’ nests were damaged, eggs lay broken on the floor, some trees were on the ground. They
must’ve been weak to begin with though. Lying beside Mike I gingerly lifted his head up, careful to make
sure his neck is straight.
“Is he breathing?” I asked as I watched his chest, I couldn’t see the rise and fall of his chest, not even a
subtle one. Looking at his face I could see it was pale, blood came out of his temple and dripped down.
Ciel bent down parallel to Mike, her cheek facing his nose, time seemed to slow, the air became moist
and my heart beat grew louder, as she came back up with a pale expression. “I know CPR.” She said
simply. Together we worked together reviving and healing Mike. It was hard to get the first aid kit out of
my back pack and start dabbing at his deep wounds, while trying to hold his neck steady.
“We’ve been trying for almost ten minutes now.” I said as I dabbed at his forehead, Ciel, for what
seemed the tenth time, laid her cheek opposite Mike’s nose to feel his breath. “Anything?!” I asked
desperate, every time she would perform CPR I’d prepare myself for a situation where professional help
is needed, because there’s no way Mike is dead, there can’t be.
“His breathing is improving.” She said, “But I think we should get him to the hospital.”
“Screw the hospital,” I replied looking back up at her, “we called them ten minutes ago they should’ve
been here by now.” Gently I got up unable to take the pain in my legs anymore; as soon as I got up I fell
back down again, of course with my luck I collapsed on Mike’s stomach. I heard the air come out of his
stomach in a ‘whoosh’ sound and all of the sudden gasping and choking. I scrambled up, my hand
slipping on mud, having me collapse on his stomach again not regretting it when I heard a masculine
‘oof.’
Mike sat up carefully cringing and gasping in pain, which was a relief. “Holli, what are you doing? Where
are we?” he asked looking around, pain clearly reflected in his eyes.
“I slipped and we have no idea.” Ciel bent down beside him, as I tried to stand up again. My legs had
finally woken up and were stable enough.
“How are you feeling?” Ciel asked pushing Mike’s hair out of his eyes. I rolled my eyes, even in the worst
times Ciel flirts. I cleaned up the bloody cotton balls and put them in a plastic bag, packing up the rest of
the kit.
“I’m fine,” he replied in a groan clutching his head, “what happened?”
“We don’t know.” I replied.
“I’m sorry guys I thought I disabled everything.” He said leaning against Ciel, who gladly allowed him to
use her for a pillow.
“Don’t worry about it,” I replied sitting down, Ciel handed him a bottle of water, and he took it
gratefully.
“It was so retarded though and random.” Ciel commented.
“Yeah one minute I’m throwing something in the trash, the next minute the house is throwing us here.”
“It’s possible the trash can has been set off to explode when something is thrown in it.” Mike said
closing his eyes.
“Mike can you walk?” I asked but my voice was drowned out by the sirens of the ambulance. “Brilliant.
We revived him faster than they got here.”
“Holli,” Mike’s tone was full of warning.
“What?” I asked in an innocent voice.
“Please don’t start a fight.” He said his tone full of pleading.
“But Mike the-“
“Got here, and it’s a good thing you revived me before they got here not bad.” He sighed, “Holli please
I’m too tired to argue, promise me you’ll use manners.”
“I grew up on the streets I don’t have manners.” I replied muttering, apparently it was a loud mutter
since he heard it.
“Holli.” His tone full of more warning than before, I looked at Ciel who just nodded.
“Alright fine, don’t get your knickers in a twist.” I said getting up, “I’m going to go get them.” With that I
sprinted off returning about four minutes later to Mike. By the time we returned he was unconscious
again, Ciel looked at me reassuringly before I could worry. Gently, the medics lifted him up on a
stretcher and towed him back to the ambulance. Ciel and I ran in front kicking rocks and twigs out of the
way that could make Mike uncomfortable or hurt himself.
It was the first time I rode in the back of an ambulance and hopefully the last time too, Ciel
drove the car behind the ambulance, I had to check every two minutes to makes sure she was following
us. I don’t know why I keep thinking she’ll mess up, I just do. As I checked for possibly the tenth time,
the paramedics reassured me that he would be alright but would have to stay overnight for surveillance.
Once we arrived they rolled him into a room, while he lay unconscious in a room Ciel filled out the forms
and I used the agency card to pay. I wasn’t sure if this would come out of my pay or not but I didn’t care
at this point. I looked over at Ciel who still had her bent down on the clipboard full of papers.
“Are you done yet?” I asked her annoyed.
“Not since the last time you asked me, two minutes ago.” She replied as she flipped a page to my relief, I
sat down next to her, peering over her shoulder.
“These forms aren’t hard to fill out Ciel.” I said, she shot me a look full of flaming daggers.
“They’re not that easy either Holli, I don’t know anything about Mike or his family or history. Does he
even have one? If he does why is he in the agency?” she scolded her voice full of annoyance and anger,
she turned back to the papers “honestly the easiest question here is the sex of the patient.”
I sighed getting up, realizing she raised a good point, and headed back out to the car. “Where are you
going?” Ciel asked looking up at me.
“I’m going to get David, contact the agency.” I replied exiting through the double doors. The car
automatically unlocked as it sensed the code on my boots, something I learned about in class. As I dug
through the trash filled car looking for David, stupid me had left him in the car, I suddenly found my feet
no longer reached the ground. Which was weird considering that I wasn’t too far into the car to have my
feet hovering in the air and they were touching it a minute ago? Looking out the window I saw a giant
red eye looking up at me.
Screaming I scrambled out of the car, which was a big mistake, instantly I started to fall, flailing my arms
around I grabbed onto the seatbelt of the car. Looking down I saw that I would’ve reached the top of the
Eiffel tower, suddenly the ground below me shifted and I was looking into a great black pit with sharp
points at the end of it. Horrified I realized that they’re teeth, I’m dangling above the monster’s mouth.
Pulling myself up I scrambled to the other side of the car, which was an even bigger mistake because
now the monster was shaking the car.
I started to fly from one side of the car to the other out of control. My body hitting something every
time, the positive was that I saw my David, the negative was that like me it flew around the car
eventually flying down the monsters throat. I prayed that some justice would be served early and the
monster would choke on it but it didn’t even notice, it’s like he swallowed air. As I flew to the back of
the car I felt a searing pain in my back, turns out that little black box inside every car that’s attached to
the window. Craning my neck I could see people walking by, how they can’t see this is a mystery to me,
at least the car I mean come on people.
Once again the car moved having me fly dangerously close to the open door, which now completely fell
off. Fantastic, I clung on to the car handle above the seat, my feet dangling dangerously. I got scared
that the handle would break, so I swung myself up, feeling like a star in an action movie the part where
it goes in slow motion. I cursed gravity in the process and thanked my training, because I was able to
swing up inside the car and crouch on the ceiling still clinging on to the handle. I stared at the window in
front of me, my one way out.
Feeling for my knife in my leg pocket I took it out and held it in one hand pointing toward the window.
Then kicking off with all my might I flew toward the window, the knife’s sharp tip cracked the window,
but it didn’t break it. Clinging on to the handle I used the hilt of my knife, hitting the window, once,
twice on the third time it shattered open and I climbed out of it.
I could feel the blood in my hand from my knife inside my suit, placing the knife back in my pocket I
stood top of the car, looking around. The moronic monster shook the car again, desperate to have me
for lunch. Slipping I clung on to the back of the car trying to think of a plan.
“HOLLI!” I heard a shriek from down below but I didn’t have time to find out who it was, I had to focus
on getting off the car, and safely on the ground. Once again I took out my knife and stabbed the car as
hard as I could, holding on tight, I grabbed another one with my left hand and did the same. I used the
knives to climb up the car, stabbing it every time and pulling myself up until I reached the side.
Exhausted I sat down my legs dangling, and then gripping my knives tight I jumped right into the
monsters eye.
Clearly I didn’t think this through, before I knew it an ear shattering shriek filled the ear, my body was
sticky and filled with the goo of the monster’s eyeball. It was easy to get off though, sort of like walking
on ice, except stickier. The monster continued to shriek as I walked off and clung on to its fur. He finally
thought of dropping the car and rubbing his eyes.
The next minute I found myself breathing in the disgusting breath of the monster as it let out another
bellow, I refuse to be held responsible for this one as I have done nothing. Looking around I saw Ciel
shooting at it with a gun, her expression fearless.
“OI DON’T SHOOT ME!” I called to her climbing on up the fur.
“IT’S TAKING ALL MY WILL POWER NOT TO!” she replied, I couldn’t help but smile a little bit, good old
Ciel, even when fighting she’s got a sense of humor. I looked down, realizing I would die if I made that
jump. Thinking quickly I clicked my belt and released my grappling hook, aiming for his horn. I then
started to slide down as fast as gravity would let me, at nine point eight one acceleration.
Finally I landed on the ground I looked to see and recognized the monster as a Molar Troll, that’s all I
could remember. Running as fast as I could with the grappling hook still attached to the monster’s horn,
my stupid plan worked and the monster shrieked. Then to my surprise it spoke, “Please, please I beg of
you stop!”
I looked at Ciel who met my gaze, she smirked at my stunned expression. I knew I should’ve paid more
attention in class, wracking my brains I remembered that Molar Trolls are the only intelligent of their
kind, but only hurt if provoked to. “Do you promise not to hurt us?!” I called to him.
“Yes yes just please come closer.” He begged trying to reach for me with his hand, to which Ciel fired at
him. He roared again “STOP FIRING AT ME.”
Some part of me felt bad for the troll so I continued to come closer, I realized as I did that the most
sensitive part of the Molar Troll’s body is the horns, and I was tugging on it. “Why did you attack me?” I
asked holding the rope of the hook, “tell me or I will pull.”
“NO NO, no need for that.” He bellowed desperately, I could hear the pain in his voice before he gained
control again. “I will tell you whatever you want to know just please don’t hurt me.” He sat down on his
huge butt making me and Ciel fly through the air then come back down, lucky for us it was a basic
distance that’s covered in training so we were able to land easily. He started to remove the darts from
his body, Ciel had fired a lot of the little pointy things.
“What are those Ciel?” I asked coming closer to the troll with her.
“Shock darts,” she replied putting the gun in her belt, “they’ll send shocks through the body fired at.”
She explained. She turned to the troll, “why did you attack Holli?” she asked in a loud slow voice.
The troll stopped what he was doing and looked at Ciel insulted. “Please ma’am I may be a troll but I’m a
Molar troll, we’re the smartest of our kind you see so please don’t treat me like you’re speaking to an
egg.” He scolded before going back to removing the darts.
“You failed to answer my question.” She said in a harsh tone, I’ve never seen her so serious fierce. Gave
me chills yet made me proud of her.
“Oh yes, what was it?” he asked again, I noticed he had an English accent. Never in my life would I have
thought I’d be intrigued by a troll. Let alone one with an English accent, god who knew my life would be
so weird at the age of sixteen.
“Why did you attack Holli?” she said her jaw clenched, I could tell she was straining to not shout.
“I was ordered to, if you must know, to find this…Holli and kill her.” He replied looking down at Ciel and
pointing toward me. His news surprises me.
“Who wants me killed? Who ordered you?”
The troll looked at me like I was speaking another language, “Of course those who ordered me are those
who want you killed.” He said before pointing at his temple with his index finger, “think little lady.”
“That’s not answering the question.” I replied annoyed, and desperate. I held the grappling hook tighter.
“Who was it?”
The minutes he used to wrack his brains and remember were the slowest minutes of my life. “Two men,
Thomas Column and Nicolas Batt.” He replied the names ringing in my ears in horror.
