setting is the American movement west of the Mississippi. The first session describes the original migration into North America followed by seven weeks looking
at the winning of the west. Filled with “notable” and lesser known characters and
stories the Spirits of the American west will come alive once again. This is a class
often repeated as the approach, characters, and stories vary from class to class.

This course is NOT designed to "tell the stories of the war". Instead, we will be
covering the war and its strategies very briefly. We will spend time examining the

This class will read and discuss two American novels, All the King's Men, by Robert
Penn Warren, and The Plot Against America, by Phillip Roth. Both of these novels
present fictional accounts of the impact of American populist sentiment and political power on our democratic politics and the personal lives of people both inside
and outside immediate circles of power. These novels engage with history in
uniquely literary ways, and each has been narrated in a way that fits its particular

This class is devoted to assessment and critique of acrylic paintings. Students
should have previous experience in the use of acrylics and knowledge of basic art

French Cane, students will be working advanced patterns such as daisy, star of

Knitting! It’s fun, simple to learn, and easy on your hands. We’ll make a hat and

ELM fees: $50.00 registration fee for the 8 week session. You may take up to 3
classes. The fee is per session NOT per class. (Other class supply fees may
