Volunteerism
Mother Teresa is thought to have said, “It is not the magnitude of our
ac ons but the amount of love that is put into them that ma ers.” The
same can be said of our community volunteers at St. Andrew Catholic
School. While we ask each family to contribute 10 hours of service to
our school, there is no numerical value that can be placed on a teacher’s
gra tude for help preparing cutouts for an upcoming lesson, the joy on a
child’s face when a family member takes me off from work to a end a
field trip, or the screeches of excitement when children get to show off a family member for the
first me; even our middle grade students appreciate the me their parents will spend
chaperoning dances from the shadows!
What makes St. Andrew Catholic School a great community is not a singular effort from one family;
it is the combined effort, both large and small, of all of our extraordinary families. Your investment
in this community is an investment in your children and their classmates.
You have already made a wonderful contribu ons to your children’s educa on this year by
enrolling them in St. Andrew Catholic School. Please consider taking a few hours of me to have
your fingerprints taken by the diocese. These will last five years and will provide you with excellent
opportuni es to par cipate in your children’s lives. You never know when that opportunity to read
a book to your child’s class, go on a field trip or par cipate in career day will fit with your schedule!
Thank you all for your con nued effort in building a nurturing and faith filled community for our
children to thrive!

Spiritual
O God, the creator of all things, you framed the law of labor for the human race.
Graciously grant, by the example and patronage of St. Joseph, that we may do the
work you provide us and earn the reward you promise. Sustain us with
your grace to live up to our du es in charity and jus ce. Amen.
September 6, 2015 - 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time
“Did not God choose those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that he promised to
those who love him?” (James 2:5)
What is more important – being rich in faith or rich in possessions? Society teaches us that possessions are
most important. God teaches a different lesson. When we are rich in faith we know that material things
really do not matter and we are more willing to share what we have.
