Dante Alighieri Society
Dante Alighieri society is an Italian istitution situated all over the world. It is a member of
Eunic ( European Union National Institutes for Culture) and its aim is protecting and
spreading the Italian language. Dante Alighieri Society also wants to make foreigners
love Italian culture.
It was founded in 1889 by a group of Italian
intellectuals guided by Giosuè Carducci.
During the World War I it collaborated with Fascist
Schools but later it abandoned the Fascist ideals.
It created diffferent stamps in honour of Dante
Alighieri, the most important Italian poet.
Its main outcomes are: exhibitions of Italian
products, and literature.
It also certifies the level of Italian language for
foreigners.
One of the most important Dante Society is
situated in Paris.
