Winter Warm-Up 2017
We love handbells, and we’d LOVE for you to join us at our 2017 workshop. Embellish will
be hosting a “hands-on” workshop at Aquinas College on March 11th. If you are a director
looking to provide additional education to your entire group, or if you are an individual
looking to bring your skill to the next level, this workshop is for you.
Embellish is passionate about handbells, and we want EVERYONE to have the ability to
learn in a fun, laid-back environment. We want to share what we know and love with you!
Mark your calendar for March 11th! We look forward to a fun filled day of bells. Details are
below:

WHERE: Aquinas College, Art and Music Center, 1607 Robinson Rd. SE, Grand Rapids, MI
WHAT TO BRING:
• Bring a sack lunch, morning coffee, bagels, and sweet treats will be provided.
• Dress Comfortably (especially shoes)
• Gloves (Bells will be provided)

Want to achieve that WOW factor from your congregation or
audience? Come learn how you can change instrumentation,
add bells, chimes, stopped techniques etc. to enhance your
performance. The class will allow ringers the opportunity to
have hands on experience with different types of bells and
chimes as well as other instruments such as wind chimes,
tambourine, Djembe, Cajón, and many more! Learn how
adding more will help you score!

Ringer’s Session (All levels)
This is a free for all! Come and ask what you’ve always
wondered about. We are here to answer your questions and
to provide hands‐on demonstrations. If we are unable to help
you on the spot, we are committed and willing to use our
contacts and resources to help you find the answer.
Own the Stage
(All levels)
What should a good performance look like? What should it
sound like? Learn to watch each other and play as a group.
How can you conquer those hard to turn pages or hard to ring
passages? How do you make those impossible to ring
measures look like a piece of cake? Come uncover some
“little known secrets” that can take your ringing to the next
level.
Rhythm is Gonna Get You
Level 1 (Beginner – Intermediate)
Level 2 (Intermediate – Advanced)
Experience how to listen, move and play. This class features
fun ways to work with rhythm and improve
coordination and teamwork. Learn how posture, body
movement, and mood, all contribute to your ringing in time.
Basic Bell Techniques
(Beginner – Intermediate)
Learn to pick ‘em up and lay ‘em down and ring 'em in
between! Whether you are a beginning bell ringer, want to
strengthen your core ringing skills, or are looking for ideas on
how to teach the basics to your own bell group, this
workshop will cover all the bases. Come learn basic
techniques, approaches and tips to bell ringing in this fun,
hands‐on workshop.
Ring – a – Holics
Beginner – Intermediate (Level I & II)
Intermediate – Advanced (Level III & IIII)
For those of you who just love to ring, this is the class for you.
This sight‐reading session is offered in intermediate and
advanced level classes so all ringers will have the opportunity
to read new music and enjoy the art of ringing. Find a new
stand partner, and take on a new challenge! If you find a
piece that you really like, the music will be available for
purchase.
Bass and Battery Techniques
(All levels)
Calling all bass bell ringers! Come and learn more about the
different ways to ring that bowling ball on a stick. We will
discuss different ringing techniques, how to master those
hard to ring trouble spots, and “healthy” ringing.
Treble Techniques (Advanced)
(Intermediate-Advanced)
For those who are already comfortable ringing multiple bells,
join us to refine your technique, learn advanced tricks and
tips, and figure out how to troubleshoot hard to ring
passages.
Dynamic Directing
(Director’s Seminar)
Sometimes you need to think outside the box in order to
move your group to the next level. This class will address
ways to get your group to ring more musically, conquer those
“hard to ring” spots, and keep your group motivated in
practice.
The Finer Details (Advanced Bell Techniques)
(Intermediate – Advanced)
For you ringers who want to perfect your skills and
techniques, this class will focus on the “nitty gritty.” This is
the 2nd level class to basic bell techniques and will address
the correct way to execute bell techniques taking into
account rhythm, dynamics, musicality and performance.
Try your Hand at Treble
(Beginner)
Grab those baby bells, and come learn how to ring multiple
bells in the treble techniques workshop. Get hands on
experience with shelly, 4‐in‐hand, and 6‐in‐hand techniques.
If you’ve always longed to be a diva, here’s your chance!
Youth Ring
Are you a ringer under the age of 18? Sign up for the youth
track and you will get a customized hands-on day tailored to
your ability and interests? Either choose your own track or
select “Youth Track” to have us create a day for you.
