DESCRIBE THE REQUESTED COURSE/PROG~AM ACTION (additional pages may be attached if necessary):
It is proposed that undergraduate criminal justice majors be permitted to take up to six credits of 300-400 level FSCS
(Forensics Science) courses and have them applied to their major as program electives.
SET FORTH THE RATIONALE FOR THIS PR0P<jlSAl:
Since the inception of the B.S. in Forensics Science (FSCS) major, many criminal justice majors have been interested in taking
FSCS courses. For a time, these course~ were taken as general electives. In time, selected FSCS courses were cross-listed
with one of two criminal justice special ;topics courses: CRJU 454 Criminal Behavior: or CRJU 464 CJ Issues:, which by rule
must be offered only a few times or be¢ome permanent courses. Faculty in both programs want to continue to support the
overlap, and propose doing so by perm~tting criminal justice majors to incorporate up to six FSCS credits among their criminal
Ijustice electives. There are few prereq~i5ites for the fSCS courses, and the advisors will be able to assist students with their
course selections.
