Regarding: Beginning of 2017 Information for New and Returning Students
Term Dates 2017: Term 1: Monday 30 January 2017 to Thursday 13 April 2017 (11 Weeks)
Term 2: Monday 1 May 2017 to Friday 7 July 2017 (10 Weeks)
Term 3: Monday 24 July 2017 to Friday 29 September 2017 (10 Weeks)
Term 4: Monday 16 October 2017 to Friday 15 December 2017 (9 Weeks)
To end the year, Year 11 students normally finish late November. Year 12/13 students normally finish early to mid-November
depending on subject requirements and if they are undertaking exams.
School Opening Hours: 8.00am to 4.30pm daily.
Start and Finish Times for Students: Monday 8.50am to 2.40pm, Tuesday to Friday 8.50am to 3.10pm.
Week 0: The school will be open from Monday 23 January to Wednesday 25 January from 8.00am to 4.30pm for parents to pay
school fees and purchase school uniforms. We will be closed Thursday 26 January for the Australia Day Public Holiday. We will
reopen Friday 27 January from 8.00am to 4.30pm. Please note the school will also be open for payment of school fees only on
Thursday 19 January and Friday 20 January, from 8.30am to 4.30pm.
For queries regarding subject changes, please contact the school on Monday or Tuesday of Week 0 to book an appointment
with a Pathways Counsellor.
Monday 30 January, Week 1: This is the first day of Term 1. Students will attend a whole school assembly starting at 8.50am.
We recommend students arrive to school at 8.40am to orientate themselves, find their friends etc. Students will receive a new
copy of their timetable after assembly.
2017 Materials and Services Charge: This will be $305 for the 2017 school year. In addition to this you may have subject or
course fees (these cannot be paid until later in Term 1 once all subject and course selections have been finalised). Invoices will
be sent out early Term 1. All school fees can be paid to the Front Office. Payment options include EFTPOS, cash, direct debit by
instalment and payment by bank transfer. Please contact the Finance Team if you have any queries. School Card Applications
may not be available until early Term 1. These can be collected from the Front Office.

Student Stationery Pack: Students will receive a basic Stationery Pack to begin their 2017 year. This will include
a mixture of lined and grid books, pens, pencil, ruler, display folders, eraser and USB. Replacement items can
be purchased from the school’s Stationery Shop which is located in the Student Services Centre (SSC), or
you are welcome to purchase these items from elsewhere. Extra subject specific stationery may be required. These extra
items are at the student’s own cost.
School Diary: There will not be a student school diary for 2017. House Managers and Mentor Teachers will work through a
process to deliver the school calendar and assessment dates to students throughout the year.
Canteen: The school has a canteen that is open to students at recess and lunch. Students are not allowed to leave school
grounds during these break times. EFTPOS facilities are available.
Uniform Information: Please see the enclosed Uniform Policy.
Families that need assistance with purchasing uniforms may apply for this by filling in a Social Inclusion Form, which is available
from both the Uniform Shop and the Front Office. The school also holds a limited amount of second hand uniforms.

Year 12 Jumper: The Year 12 Jumper will cost approximately $65.00-$70.00. This will be organised and ordered within the first
couple of weeks of Term 1. Students will be required to pay a $20.00 deposit to secure their jumper order. More information
will be made available during Week 0/Week 1.
Student Absences: If your student is going to be absent from school, please contact the SSC. Absence text messages will start
going out from Week 3, Term 1. Please see the attached newsletter for more information.
Year 12 Induction: An Induction Program for Year 12 Students will run during Week 1, on Thursday 2 February and Friday 3
February. These two days will include a range of exciting activities to aid both the academic and wellbeing development of
students. Thursday’s program includes a range of presentations from various guest speakers and SACE experts. Friday’s
program is focused on establishing clear Pathways for Success and helping students understand the intricacies of the SACE. At
the end of Year 12 Induction, House Captains and Student Representatives will be elected.
Year 11 Camp Information: A Transition Camp in Tumby Bay for Year 11 Students will be held in Week 3 or Week 5 of Term 1.
The camp will run over the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of those weeks. These three days will include a range of team
building challenges, house comradery and exciting activities to engage students with their transition to senior schooling. The
Transition Camp aims to establish long term goals to support both the academic and wellbeing success of students. At the end
of the Year 11 camp, House Vice-Captains and Student Representatives will be elected. The approximate cost for the camp will
be $100.00-$120.00. Families that need assistance with cost will be able to negotiate a payment plan. Please contact the
school if you have any concerns regarding payment.
