centres of different sizes and construction
complexities that can be used for long-term,
temporary or permanent business facilities.
While each solution has features catering to
different business needs, both offer significant
advantages over a traditional or physical data
centre, especially when it comes to speed of
construction and faster return on investment (ROI).

Behind
Our Name
The name Viridian is associated with bright green environmentalism. The bluish tint signifies
innovative design and technology while the green symbolises bright green environmentalism
as opposed to traditional environmentalism. The colours meld the concepts of environment
design, techno-progressivism, and global citizenship — precisely what Viridian Pod stands for.
Modular
Containerised
Data Centre
(M-CDC)
Viridian Pod’s M-CDC is a multi-container
solution comprising three main components,
namely: Power, Cooling and IT equipment.
Having different containers or blocks for
individual functions means that we can easily
configure the M-CDC to cater for different
levels of redundancy requirements, based
on each customer’s needs. M-CDCs come
typically in a length of 40 ft and with a fire
system. With the multi-container design
approach that subdivides the overall system
into dedicated functions, our M-CDC allows
for scalable, reusable, flexible configurations
to accommodate changing customer demands
and make the construction process more
adaptive to change.
Furthermore, an M-CDC fitted with a water
cooling system can achieve lower PUE than
one using an air cooling system because the
advantages of using water cooling include the
water’s higher specific heat capacity, density,
and thermal conductivity.
Although our M-CDC is block based, it can
fulfil the high standards and all the requirements
expected of a typical conventional data centre,
while allowing you to “pay as you grow”.

Viridian Pod’s AIO-CDC is an independent,
highly integrated container with all three
main components — power, cooling and IT
equipment — placed within one single
standard 20-FT or 40-FT container. It is well
positioned for initial smaller capability
requirement or space limitation while still
allowing for future expansion.
An AIO-CDC fully integrating the necessary
components, including a fire system for
operating a data centre in a container, will
help to eliminate some interconnecting
cables, thereby allowing for a smaller footprint
and giving a degree of portability, compared
with an M-CDC that separates power, cooling
and IT equipment into different containers.
Besides, although an AIO-CDC uses the
indirect air cooling system, it still applies the
Hot-Cold Aisles principle to achieve better
air flow and lower PUE.

Proactive Analysis
A high-demand usage occurs when an existing
data centre needs to be expanded quickly to
cater for sudden additional space requirements.
And this can be easily fulfilled by using an
AIO-CDC, which can usually be made ready
for utilisation within 12 weeks from the start of
the container construction. Meanwhile the
actual usage site only needs to prepare for the
external power source connections.
An AIO-CDC is the ideal way to augment
capacity quickly to existing data centre sites
or to tap data centre capacity temporarily,
such as in combat zones or near oil fields,
without the need for intensive construction and
mechanical and electrical engineering work. It
can usually be made ready within a week as no
additional construction is needed — only the
site to position it, and network connections.

Along with its high capacity,
Viridian Pod provides two
types of cooling system:
water cooling and air cooling.
Each rack here has a
temperature sensor which
informs a micro control unit
that keeps the temperature
ideal.
Our repeatable, standard
container design allows you
to add or combine Viridian’s
M-CDCs and AIO-CDCs
easily, just like with modules
or Lego pieces, to meet
increased demand. This
scalability and flexibility also
translate to high mobility.

Viridian Pod comes with an
integral Central Management
System where both IT and
facility management can
be centrally monitored and
managed by providing
real-time information on the
individual critical systems
of the entire CDC. The
system also offers intelligent
diagnoses and provides smart
event filtering as well
as alert notifications.
Viridian Pod’s design for
the hot and cold aisles for
air flow within the container
prevents hot air from the hot
aisle returning to the cold
aisle within the CDC and
also accommodates the air
handling unit (AHU) easily.
Disaster Recovery
Part of the reason for
designing a modular data
centre is to give it resiliency.
Quickly built and deployed,
a modular data centre can be
assembled as a means for
direct disaster recovery.
For those organisations
that have to keep maximum
amounts of uptime, a
modular architecture is most
probably the right solution.

Green Solution
(Solar Panel)
Our Viridian Pod CDC has
an option to incorporate an
innovative patented green
solar panel, feeding it with
power tapped from sunlight.
It also has a direct current
feeding into a current voltage
converter so the system
switches to an alternate
source of power when there
isn’t enough solar power.

weeks. A fast order-to-delivery
time in the market allows for

The PUE can be determined at
commissioning and because
the module is pre-engineered
and standardised, the PUEs
