Moorfield Primary School est. 1963 School Newsletter Primary Moorfield ~ February Newsletter School 2017 ~ A learning community that develops exceptional people. ~ Fairtrade Fortnight We are now in Fairtrade Fortnight. At this point in the year, we talk to the children about the impact of what we choose to buy, on the lives of the farmers around the world. We try to get them to recognise that buying a fairly traded product means a fair amount of money is paid to the farmers and their workers. This is a difficult concept to understand but we hope that through discussion at home and school, the children will become more aware of how their buying habits influence people’s lives around the world. There will be a whole school assembly for children and staff on Monday 13th March to mark the beginning of our work on Fair Trade, followed by a Fair Trade Gift Shop. Children will be able to purchase a variety of handcrafted items, such as, small musical instruments, friendship bracelets, notebooks and dolls etc. Prices will range from 50p—£3. 10% of the proceeds will be given to our sponsored child in Nepal. The remaining 90% will go to Fairtrade. Sporting Events We have children taking part in the Swimming Gala on Wednesday 8th March 2017 and our netball team will be participating in a tournament on Wednesday 1st March 1-3pm. Both events will take place at Kingsway Leisure Centre.
