Suspicious Package Protocol
Covenant Security Officer Elijah
Meadows, who works at the PBF Energy Delaware City Refinery in Delaware City, DE, set a glowing example
of how to handle suspicious packages.
Meadows identified an “odd package”
from Hungary in the mailroom that
was not addressed to anyone specific.
After inspecting the package without
handling it, Meadows summoned Captain Victor Williams and PBF Security
Director William Robinson. The team
took photos of the package and placed
it in a bag in an undisclosed secure
location. After a thorough investigation, which included communications
with the USPS Inspection Service and
the United States Coast Guard, the
package was said to be safe to open.
The suspicious package turned out to
be a book, which held no harmful contents, and the scene was deemed clear.
Regardless of the contents, “this was a
great catch”, Captain Williams said.
“A lot of agencies were brought into
play here before we got the end result
and it was an excellent job of following protocol by Officer Meadows.”

Covenant Security Officer Angel Bermontiz, stationed at the U.S. Naval Support Activity in Philadelphia, PA, took home the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS)
Philadelphia Chapter’s award for Outstanding Performance During an Incident on Nov. 14.
Back in July, while standing access control duty at the main gate of Naval Support Activity Philadelphia, Officer Bermontiz observed a vehicle occupied by two males. As he was
checking their identification, he observed a semi-automatic pistol between the seats. Officer Bermontiz immediately called for backup, both males were ordered from the vehicle
and a fully loaded 9mm pistol was recovered from the car. Both males were detained and
turned over to Philadelphia Police department for prosecution.

Question: Who is Covenant Security Services’ Director of Training?
In March, Mission Solutions Engineering in Moorestown, NJ, began a major undertaking towards consolidating their business operations from two separate
buildings into one. Despite the absence of additional
officers to augment security for the expanded required
coverage at the new building as well as providing security coverage for the client at the
still-operational two existing buildings, the Covenant security force successfully carried
out the client’s mission. “On behalf of MSE I’d like to say thank the Covenant MSE staff
for your efforts prior to, during, and after the move,” said Francis McKenna, MSE’s Security Manager. “You willingly worked extra shifts and pulled extra contractor escorts
while some of the problems were being resolved at the new building. It was a difficult
period for everyone, but you came up big in helping us remain a safe and secure facility.
Again, I appreciate your efforts during that time, and for all of your efforts and sacrifices
throughout the year. Thank you for all that you do for security and for the employees of
MSE.”
Covenant Helps Light the Night
Previous Question: Who are the
only two NFL teams to never
play in the Thanksgiving Classic?
A: Jacksonville Jaguars and Carolina Panthers.
Covenant employees across the country participated in the 2012 Light the
Night Walk to help raise money for leukemia and lymphoma research. In
LaPorte, Texas, CSS Site Manager Lisa Thompson and Security Officer
Cecil Mosley (both of whom work at the Air Products and Chemicals facility) participated in the Light The Night Walk for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America last month. They participated with other Air Products employees to raise $1,623 for the cause. These funds provide lifesaving research and
support for people battling cancer. The Covenant Philadelphia office was represented by
Vice President Rebecca Horner and Human Resources Specialist Ashley Dennis, who
participated in the Light the Night Walk in Philadelphia and helped to raise over $2500.
