Senior Vice President, Supply Chain and Clinical Engineering
With CHI since 1997, Steve is responsible for leading the integrated supply chain
program “ISC” which includes supply chain operations, contracting, purchase services,
sourcing, pharmacy, ERP data, diversity and physical assets services (formally clinical
engineering and facilities operations). These services are provided to all 88 CHI
hospitals across the country. He manages more than 520 national staff that support
CHI-owned and joint operation agreement facilities through these programs. In addition,
he also oversees CHI technology assessments, capital procurement, and real estate
and construction.
After serving in the U.S. Army, Steve started the biomedical program at St. Joseph
Medical Center in Tacoma, WA, a Franciscan Health System facility. In 1997,
Franciscan joined CHI, and Steve took on an expanded role with responsibility for all of
the facilities in the western region of the organization, which then developed into CHI’s
national clinical engineering program. Steve serves on several advisory boards,
including the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) and
the Emergency Care Research Institute and represents CHI on numerous professional
associations.
Steve began his career in Clinical Engineering while in the military. He trained at
Fitzsimmons Medical Center, Denver, and earned a degree in Biomedical Engineering
and Health Care Management from Regis College in Denver.
